There was a place across the river called the Cow Pen that had good steaks and Mex food. It closed several years back, before COVID.

Still open called something different now like Table 82 or something like that

The actual Does' in Greenville is very different from the chain variety Does' popping up around the country.

Yes it is, and can scare you away just rolling up on it. It's worth a few ghetto stares and the risk of leaving your car parked though.

Are there any good steak restaurants there? I need a big prime rib and was thinking about driving down that way. Does is one of the top 10 steak houses in the country.

How are the roads? Is the Mississippi River bridge safe? bridge is safe but local driver believe red lights are optional.

Any good writers from there?
Yes, look it up.

The Lofts at 517 is the best place to stay in Greenville. Pricy but worth it.

If that's there, no other restaurants are necessary. We have a winner.

As others have mentioned, Doe's is a terrific steak house. Don't know if they have Prime Rib, though.

That Mississippi bridge is new and cool.

Not really much else in Greenville to mention. There is a casino. And Shipley's Donuts.

There are a lot of good writers from the Mississippi Delta surrounding Greenville, but I don't know if any are from Greenville specifically.

Hodding Carter II and III were from Greenville.

Oh, and Willie Morris was from Yazoo City, Ms., which starts the delta on the east side.

Water is permanently stained due to cypress roots in the towns pipes.

Virgil's Smoked Meats is an highly underrated establishment. Plan to eat outdoors, but plan to eat well.

All sodas in restaurants are served in cans.

If you're going thru Greenville you better be packing heat. The natives often get restless.

Does Eat Place

Expect to drop 100 bucks per person minimum though

There is a decent casino called Harlows on the river.

Otherwise it’s a shithole
