not a very good sample size

again, he’s not stuck around anywhere long enough to definitively state that he can win consistently longterm

not saying he can’t, but the jury is definitely still out

He was a HC in the NAIA for 5 years, went 67-3 and won 3 Championships over the 5 years. 1 of those losses was in a championship game.

He was a former player at the school and I'm guessing it didn't pay much, because then he spent 10 years being an OC.

I realize that's a few levels down and all, but he's just been constantly moving up since hitting FBS because he's been getting such good results.

Realistically What is Your View of Kalen DeBoer?

I think he is a very good coach.

He is not Nick Saban, but not many others are either. DeBoer is in a tough spot. He is following in the footsteps of the most successful coach in the modern era. People expect no drop-off.

Bama fans will likely spend the remainder of their lives looking for the next Nick Saban.

Decent HC and just part of the inevitable Bama decline.

Does LSU have a quarterback on the roster?

Isn't that who Austin Mack was supposed to be?!! And he didn't see much of the field... Even when ty was reported to be injured and possibly costing games.

KD doesn't bench his starting QB unless they physically can't play. That's what we've seen his first two years anyway. If Mack wasn't good enough to win the job in the spring, that's on him.

Good coach. Not Nick Saban. Would be fine almost anywhere else.

Too early to tell. Chased a dream with the worst case scenario being life changing money.

Bama should be pushing for Indiana’s coach starting today. In the next two years there will be cracks and chances to get him.

Seems like he’s held it together as good as most would. NIL leveled the playing field and Bama was the most affected.

College football is harder than it’s ever been. With NIL and the portal, no one is going to dominate this league. Dynasties are over. CFB has become the mini NFL. Regular season is playing for seeding in the playoffs. The postseason is where it matters now. We got three teams in the semifinals who didn’t play for their conference championship. If Saban was still coaching, we’d probably not play for the Natty last year or this year either.

DeBoer is fine. He’s recruiting good and he’s picking up kids in the portal. We went 11-4 and won a first round game. Did LSU? He’s remodeling the team in his vision. We’re fine, just unrealistic expectations.

I think we’ll see this upcoming year. Alabama will be doing a Florida State type patch job with just about the entire roster so Kalen will have HIS team. It’s about HIS coaching job. He mostly outcoached every team he played this year except Indiana.

I’m done with Saban strays being all over this teams DNA. Time for DeBoer coaching and DeBoer players.

I think he's a very good coach, you can't ignore his impressive record against ranked teams. But it's amazing how much worse his teams play away from home (this was a problem at Washington too).
Also I'm not sure anyone could follow up Saban.

Cignetti knows nothing about coaching those types of attitudes being paid the way they are being paid now. He’s coaching kids with a chip on their shoulder looking to prove something. Not millionaire 5 stars who only show up in front of the camera.

Cignetti seems to have similar disposition as Saban. I agree, he has done tremendous coaching job with 3 stars. Do I think he’s a better coach than KD? Absolutely!! I firmly believe in life you stay true to who you are. Saban left because he was getting old and was tired. Could he have dealt with nil and portal?? Yes, just fine.

I perceive cignetti a disciplinarian like Saban. Cignetti will face similar issues at Indiana in coming years as he loads up on prima donnas. Will be interesting to see how he fares.

KD is the worst type of coach, a “Players Coach”.

Very good coach and will win a lot of games at Bama and have Bama in the playoffs regularly. He just has to understand finesse in the SEC wont work and he has got to coach a physical brand of football. Yall will do good with him if you give him time.

I agree but does someone making 11 mil per year not already know this? And if he does not then why are you paying him 11 mil?

I think he's a good coach. He can't do what Saban did and stockpile players anymore. I liked the little dictator, but he bent any rule he could, whined about shite he couldn't compete with, and turned his head to let the bag men roll. Do I blame him, not one bit. Now everyone has legal bag men. It will be rare to see an undefeated team in the SEC anymore. Adding OU and TexAss did nobody any favors. The B1G is weaker top to bottom today, but that's going to change. Northwestern and Rutgers might not care so much, but everyone else does, and will add some dollars to the pot. Look at Vandy and Indiana, that will expand. There aren't going to be any gimme games anymore with the SEC and eventually the B1G

Jury is still out. Needs to create some consistency to fully judge.

ETA: Dude has more sympathizers in the fanbase than I would have ever imagined.
