Ok,first this isn't a troll thread. It's only to get opinions from others. Anyways, do you see the players mailing it in early and not caring, or come out with a chip on their shoulders and try to play spoilers? We do have a decent offense, jury (pun) is still out on the defense. And still most could be waiting for the punishment. I'm just a big football fan and ready to watch some.

So what is y'alls opinion since some have had to deal with problems from the NCAA. Thanks

Not trolling.

I see a disaster of a season coming for Ole Miss. I don't think Shae is as proven as some on this board think he is, and I think the team will quit at some point during the season.

Almost completely new coaching staff
Bad defense
little depth in several places
no bowl prospect
NCAA hammer looming

I could see a 3-9 or 4-8 type season for OM

all of this, it could be a very bad season on the field on off this year.

That's the kind of logical answer I was looking for and cant really dispute anything you said. Shea played what three games or so, and took a miracle to beat AtM, then lost the rest.

My thoughts too. I think it will spread throughout the team. OM can hang with anybody with the starters but after that...it may get ugly.

That's what I'm thinking. One let down game and they all say screw it. Especially the defense or lack there of.

Ole Miss has major issues looming for this season.

First is of course all the NCAA stuff.

Second is the resigning/firing of the head coach.

Third is while you have some skill position players, your overall talent level on both sides of the ball is lacking tremendously.

Fourth is the fact that Shea Patterson ain't nearly as good as most ole Miss fans claim he is.

Fifth is that after the first loss, the team will quit just like they did on HDN several years ago.

It won't be the players who cave and mail it in. Those guys are doing what they've done every summer - practice and sweat and pay the price to get ready to play. They still have the bond of playing for the guys who they have been sweating and suffering with.

The coaches are the ones who have already shifted attention elsewhere. They go to practice, then they have to go face a wife and kids who know that they won't be in Oxford next year. They have to find a realtor from out of town , just trying to keep the rumor mill at a minimum. They have to juggle a mortgage while also trying to line up employment for 2018.

And the kids will get the blame for "quitting" or "mailing it in"

Sucks, but we've all seen it happen

I think the big unknown is how the coaching staff holds up. Matt Luke as a HC is unknown. The players can have a big a chip as possible but he will be the key.

I think Longo's offense is good for ole miss personnel, but how will he do first time in the SEC with Shea who hasn't proved anything except looking good against a horendous Aggie D.

Yea if two or three starters go down or doesn't do enough to motivate them, then it's going to run through the locker room like cancer. Our only hope is the offense can help the defense and I don't see it right now with scoring fast and three and outs.

Ole Miss has always been a team that plays on emotion which can cause other teams fits. I do not think you guys lay down. On the contrary, with no pressure to win the West I think you come out ready to play. I think injuries will dictate before attitude. I do not know how your skill players rank and your depth.

I think Ole Miss is still talented enough to be dangerous. Are those talented players mentally tough enough to win a big game or two? I'm not sure.

I don't think Ole Miss is going to have that bad of a season. Not going to win the division or anything, but somewhere in the 7-9 win range.

I am not an Ole Miss fan by any means but I think they are going to do quiet well this year. I joke about them as much as anyone here, but your offense should be able to put up some impressive numbers.
