I graduated from LSU in 1996 and the school has improved quite a bit academically since my time there. I shutter to think how low we were ranked when I was in school.

So you are trying to say UGA's incoming class is well above Auburn's as far as academic achievements?

The one's from GA definitely are. That's the thing here in GA, if you don't get in to UGA you go to Auburn or Alabama.

You'd be wrong. Although UGA is slightly higher, they are almost identical. You are just making assumptions on the "didnt get into UGA so went to Auburn/Bama" based on a few you may have known, numbers would indicate different. I know a few here in GA that didnt make the cut into AU but made into UGA. So I guess I can make the same assumption about UGA getting AU's rejects

Ole Miss & MSU took a hit when the Ayers court case forced them to lower entrance requirement to match the historical black universities in the state. Now the freshman class is larger, but the curriculum is still at the same difficulty level, which leads to a much higher washout rate. Low admissions standards = lower retention rates and both are big factors in these ratings. Ole Miss was often right below Vandy on these lists before this court ruling.

Does anyone outside university administrators and obsessive college football fans, who have been following realignment stuff for the past 3 years, even know what the AAU is?

UGA can act like they're all better and everything, but the only reason it's so hard to get into is because of the HOPE.

UGA's hard to get into?

Not true.

According to the Wall street Journal, A&M is the #2 ranked school of all universities by corporate recruiters.

LINK

List of 100 Schools

These are the 100 colleges and universities that the Journal asked recruiters to rate for the quality of their graduates. Recruiters were also able to write in colleges not on this list;

additionally, we've listed 31 colleges that at least five recruiters each added to the list..

SEC schools whose grads are among the Top 100 according to recruiters:

Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
Kentucky
Ole Miss
Texas A&M
Vanderbilt

Included in the next 31:

South Carolina
Tennessee

Not included at all:

Arkansas
LSU
Mississippi State
Missouri

Does Mississippi have anything positive going for it? Seriously, scroll down almost any list and MS is what you find at the bottom.

Ole Miss has some beauties walkin 'round that campus.

I've taught several thousand students - many from SEC law schools. If we are discussing academic preparation for an LL.M. in tax law, I would say:

LSU
UF

(big drop)

USC
UA
UGA

after that, it varies and I make no predictions. I've seen great students from Vandy, as well as awful ones. Same for Ole Miss, etc.

Please look at admissions standards. When I graduated in 08 you had to have 3.6 minimum with APs and extracurriculars as well as a 24 act and around a 1250-1300 sat. Auburn requirements were around 3.1-3.2 overall gpa with sat and act to match. I don't now what to tell you other than they aren't the same bc uga's standards have gone up since.

A degree from either of those schools does not open any special doors except for in Texas and Florida.

This. The numbers are unfairly skewed against us in MS because of the joke that is our judicial system.

UGA may be a little bit better school overall right now. But to say significantly better is just stupid.

I graduated with fricking idiots who have a diploma from the university of Georgia. They pride themselves on admission standards, but fail to realize that Georgia isn't any better than a middle of the pack university.

I would hope you realize that those numbers are more of a guideline and not concrete as far as acceptance. Better numbers to go by are the actual statistical data of accepted/enrolled/applied. In those data sets you will see the they are almost equal with Uga holding a slight lead, as I mentioned earlier.

I'm not trying to say you are stupid or aTm is a bad school, but did you even read your own link? It's basically saying big schools near major metros are are a good place to find entry level drones for big corporations.
