That's just simply not true. The gap between UGA and Alabama is significant.

I thing Vandy, Florida, Missouri, and A&M should all band together and sponsor (at a minimum) Georgia, Auburn, and Alabama for AAU membership.

Based on what? Admissions standards aren't even comparable.

kaiserSoze.

I applaud you.

LSU also has a brand new Hurricane Engineering curriculum that is unique.

Cool. Well if I have a mid life crisis in a few years and decide I want to semen test bulls, drill for oil, build a golf course, or be a hurricane engineer (whatever the F that is), I will certainly consider LSU.

Admission standards really aren't that reliable of a factor. They reflect the amount of people that apply to that school. Sure UGA has tough admissions when Metro Atlanta has 7,000,000 people and the state as a whole has a higher population. Of course they can make it more difficult for people to get in opposed to schools in other states with lower population who need the students. The quality of student is definitely better at schools like UGA and UF(talking public here don't get mad Vandy). What's the common denominator? Once you get to the University the education you receive is probably pretty close across the board in the SEC. ECON is ECON, Physics Physics, etc and all are taught by Doctors and or Masters recipients. Going to LSU, I know people who got in and the one's with a lower GPA(<3.5 in HS) struggle bad. I'm talking 2.5 GPA or lower. Just because it's easier to get in doesn't mean its easier once you get there.

You are probably right. Why are LSU fans getting so pissy about these rankings though? Like it would matter that my degree came from Alabama and yours from LSU if we were competing for the same job? The only school that matters and sticks out on a resume is Vandy.

Truth, depending on what your major is. Really just don't choose a bullshite major, perform well, get work experience i.e. internships and you are set.

IDK man. I am only concerned about the ranking of the LSUCIA dropping to "top 10" when it was #1 when I went through that miserable bitch of a program.

eta:
Seriously though, you are right in general, but I wouldn't be where I am today if I had gone to a different SEC school. CPA firms were begging LSU grads who completed the CIA program to come work for them when I was graduating.

Bama keeps its rankings up by heavily recruiting nationally and convincing Cal and Michigan material to consider Bama with a free ride plus laptop and stipend. Your average Bama student is nothing special though. It's top heavy and Mississippi quality below that. I know people with 18 ACT's who Bama let in if they could pass a summer remedial class before their freshman year began. Bama needs money with all the construction going on so as long as you can pay (especially out of state tuition), they will take you.

Which is why we have these rankings.

They had UF at 52 and UGA at 58 and Bama in the 70's and for some reason UGA is grouped with Bama and Auburn. Just dumb. UGA and UF are extremely similar in admissions standards.

Disagree. It depends on with whom you're interviewing, where you're interviewing, and what the job is.

LSU had started this but budget cuts could change that, which is really disheartening. I know a lot of people who went to LSU in my class because of scholarship that are extremely intelligent. A lot that are smarter than most of my friends who were pretty smart and went to a well respected high school to later get into very good colleges. I hope they'll still be able to get people like this.

This too. There are some below average intelligent people here. Like I said, though they either fail out real fast or just go through college never getting above a 2.5.

Yep. For folks in Baton Rouge or NO its at least a little bit harder than out of state schools.
