Sure it may look better on paper but in the end college is there to make us more competitive in the job market

If that's what you want out of it.

College is there for whatever you want it to be. Do you want to be a more attractive hire? Great. Do you want to learn something? Awesome. Do you want to live away from your parents and frick and drink? That's cool too.

In the end it has more to do with what you major in than where you go. Having a Finance degree from Ole Miss will have better job prospects than someone having a History degree from Texas A&M.

Having a degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M (like I do) gives me FAR better job prospects than having a Finance Degree from Ole Miss. What's your point?

What do you mean "what's your point"? You and him are saying the exact same thing. Not only does the institution matter, but the degree received from said institution matters as well, if not more.

Agreed. And I'm not so sure a history degree from A&M isn't better than a finance degree from Ole Miss. Setting up amortization schedules on trailer parks doesn't seem THAT lucrative.

Bad joke is bad.
