True.IMO, Tennessee's #2 iceberg is really starting to melt. Not so sure their #2 ranking is without some debate. They well may still be #2 but its not the slam dunk like Alabama's #1.

No doubt LSU, Auburn and Georgia are closing the gap quickly.

Alabama has a small gap in between them and #2 whoever people might want to put there.

And lSU has two. It's not like there is a huge gap there, and when you add up the other stuff, it starts evening out. Like I said, as case could be made for Auburn, LSU and Georgia.

Georgia did not play in a title game in 1980. Or whatever the other year you claim.

Yes we did. It was very much considered the title game.

And the year you are wanting to claim for Auburn there was also a very clear title game.

I get it. I was actually hoping Auburn would play in it, too. But you didn't, and you can't go back and claim a title based on you thinking you should have played in the title game.

obviously a mistake on my part. at least one of tenn non wire service nattys is legit.

they also have two consensus nattys, not one. just a typo becuase i was thinking about ugas one natty.

Just go by ncaa.com. Tennessee has only 2 national titles. 1951 and 1998

Guess you’re just giving out national titles left and right.

AU is too far in the direction of not claiming legit titles solely because AU does not want to be like bama. That is the truth.

This fellow disagrees with you.

Okay. Some would not count your 1958 title. Are you okay with that?

And the poster you commented to wants to claim 6 and says they are more worthy to count than Georgia's 1980 title.

Great example. The school recognizes two and Auburn fans will tell you 4.

Because unlike some schools (like Georgia), not everyone retroactively claims "titles."

It's ridiculous! I was hoping to avoid this discussion by doing school-claimed titles...but it is unavoidable I suppose

In fact #6 is just as legit as Georgia's 1980 title

I want to hear about this.

No one has shot up this list like the Gators since 1990. Before then we were probably in 10-12 place.

Can Arkansas actually get 1964 when the AP and Coaches didn't have them #1?

Their rise has been incredible. Florida used to be Ole Miss (one good quarterback in the 60s-70s who won the heisman) and now they are pushing for 4th place
