14) Mississippi State - 0 National Championships, 1 Conference Title, 555 wins (below Vandy because of all-time wins and conference titles)
Vandy has beaten MSU 3 times since 1935. We suck historically, but I wouldn't swap our football program for theirs.

12-0 and frick all of you. Beat UGA...we have 7 starters back on defense btw, 10 starters back on offense. UGA has 2 or 3 starters back on defense...they falling.
I like the way reel_gatr8 is thinking!!!
With the new coaching staff, we are not conceding anything to anybody. We have talent on this roster and a lot of returning players with game experience.

Certainly that is one site, but an Auburn fan linked to a NCAAA site and it broke down every year since...well....maybe the beginning and the polls, etc. It showed Auburn with 5 National Championships, I believe and Georgia with 6. It was pretty far out there.

Yep...1969 ACC Champs, and with a 7-4 record, to boot. Good days, bros...

Again. I have no problem with you guys feeling the way you do. my other thread was simply to gauge how many MSTate and Florida fans felt that way.
I thought it interesting since Mullen went from MState to Florida, and both programs feeling really good about their chances.
I know Korin doesn't like Georgia, but he seems to be particularly teed off and aggravated lately.

2) Tennessee - 6 National Championships (4 retro-active), 16 Conference Titles, 833 wins
3) LSU - 3 National Championships, 14 Conference Titles, 787 wins ((1))
And if you take away claimed titles, LSU would move into the #2 spot.

Hard to believe that in our respective program's histories that we haven't played but around 30 times.
16-13-1 in favor of LSU, by the way....

Not our fault LSU hasn’t played as many games for whatever reason
quote:that's not how ceteris parabis works and pride was trying to splain that to you. IF lsu had the chance to play more games, that 21 game lead would most certainly diminish thus pushing lsu even further ahead of uga overall
it’s not like LSU couldnt I’ve had better seasons in the last and won 21+ games to move ahead of UGA

quote:the point was, ceteris parabis, the difference was negligible despite "more wins" and lsu leads in other categories thus substantiating the idea that lsu has been slightly better overall
Never mind that our win percentage is still higher so I don’t know what you’re trying to say

A&M is certainly in front of Arkansas... more wins and more championships.. put your bias aside

I gave my explanantion. Farmer even researched the 2 programs. He came to the conclusion that the 2 programs are amazing similar. Texas a&m could not tie Arkansas in the series within a decade, so I put Arkansas ahead

Here is how I ranked the programs of the SEC a few weeks ago when creating a system that ranks programs nationally*:
1. Alabama- 1,182
2. LSU- 577
3. Florida- 550
4. Tennessee- 514
5. Auburn- 489
6. Georgia- 458
7. Texas A&M- 279
8. Arkansas- 274
9. Ole Miss- 209
10. Missouri- 167
11. S. Carolina- 103
12. Mississippi St.- 87
13. Kentucky- 52
14. Vanderbilt- 12
*When creating a system that ranks teams nationally, I believe that you can't look at Conference Championships because not all conferences are built to the same strength.
So I think from a national relevance perspective, the above is fairly accurate. It just calculates points for National Titles and AP Poll finishes.... on a weighted scale that rewards more recent accomplishments more than accomplishments many years ago.
However, when you are focusing just on the SEC, conference championships do come more into play, and I think factoring those obviously helps programs like Georgia and Tennessee and hurts programs like Florida and Auburn.

Well, in fairness two of the 3 National Championships happened after 2000 and 4 of the conference Championships did, too. You had tow conference championships in the 80's and one in the 70's, so half of your conference championships happened before the 1960's, and the third natty? 1958.
That said...and as I have said numerous times...throw Auburn, Georgia and LSU in a hat and pick one. The accomplishments are startlingly similar. It's almost a tie for the #4, #4 and #5 slots in the all time SEC standings, and all three are closing in on Tennessee for #2.
