We aren't "rivals" with Memphis or Vanderbilt. Memphis thinks we are rivals, but we aren't, and Vandy really doesn't care. We aren't "rivals" with Southern Miss either, although they'd claim we are simply because we share a state.

Or because y'all are scared to play them

Nobody is scared of USM

Also didn’t we just beat them in a Hattiesburg super?

Playing a team more than any other team doesn’t make that school a rival. There is no LSU-Mississippi State football rivalry. We play them every year but usually there isn’t much at stake. LSU-Ole Miss was a rivalry until the 1970s. Now it’s not really a rivalry.

For a series to truly be a rivalry, both teams have to be in title contention and win their fair share, have a mutual hatred, a geographic tie or some combination of the three.

LSU doesn’t really have a true mutual rival. We have rivalries, but we’re not on par with Alabama, Auburn hates Alabama more, Florida hates Georgia more, and Texas A&M hates Texas more. Ole Miss may hate LSU more than Mississippi State but it’s been 50 years since LSU and Ole Miss have both been consistently relevant.

Auburn and Florida are the closest series we’ve had to a true rivalry in the last 20 years.

LSU is our natural rival and the reciprocal is true too. Stick around and see when our game comes up what happens

Don't forget about ULM beating us the John L Smith year when we were still ranked in the top ten. That game started the decade long downward spiral.

Apparently the Rebs playing Southern Miss 23 times isn't enough for LSU fans.

No one look, but that's more than LSU has played UL-Lafayette and Louisiana Tech.

The fact that you put that many blank rows then LSU means LSU is really above Tennessee.

Bama
Georgia

Florida and Tennessee would be our traditional #3 and #4, but since the SEC expanded I would say in the last 30 years LSU would be 3rd, State 4th, Ole Miss 5th.
