QB and RB threads have been good. So why not continue the series?

#1 George Pickens: (UGA)
Just plain out good. Smooth route runner with a high catch radius. Has good strength for a skinny type guy. He’s preseason number 1 for me.

#2 Kayshon Boutte: (LSU)
Might be a surprise to some, but he deserves this spot. The way he played when he got most of the snaps were incredible. He’s the SEC record holder in rec yards in a game as a Freshmen. Sophomore year should be a good one for him.

#3 John Metchie: (Alabama)
Solid all around. With Smith being the top tier guy that kinda overshadowed what Metchie was doing. Just consistently good. Now that he seems to be taking over the WR1 for Bama I see a breakout year for 2021.

#4 Treylon Burks: (Arkansas)
Changed him to number 4 after seeing what he did last season. 820 rec yards is certainly not bad considering Arkansas down QB play sometimes. And he was doing this as a sophomore. He’s 4 in preseason.

#5 Chase Lane: (Texas AM)
Shifty Quick sort of guy. Kinda reminds me of another Aggie WR in Christian Kirk. He should be the top target for next season I think. He will have to deal with the new QB coming in. But I see a nice year for Lane this season.

Honorable mentions:
Cam Johnson (Vandy)
Jermain Burton (UGA)
Jaray Jenkins (LSU)
Josh Ali (Kentucky)
Mike Woods (Arkansas)
Jaden Walley (Miss State)
Koy Moore (LSU)
Trey Palmer (LSU)
Wan'Dale Robinson (Kentucky)
Jacob Copeland (Florida)

I get the feeling someone other than Metchie will step up for Bama next year. He just doesnt have the same feel to him that Jeudy, Smith, Waddle had. Certainly a good receiver in his own right but it wouldn't surprise me if a new name from Bama came on strong and is their leading receiver next year. They've certainly recruited enough talent there.

Wan'Dale Robinson Kentucky based on what he did at Nebraska may be in the mix

This list seems extremely thin compared to recent years. As an A&M fan I don’t see how Lane is a top 5 returning WR in the conference honestly.

He’s in honorable mentions.

I honestly think I will change him and add him into top 5 after looking at his stats a year ago.

Also ,I think trey palmer for lsu will be a starter in the slot and be fantastic. Hes putting it all together now,he was good at the end of the year and hes one of the fastest guys in conference. Whoever plays slot at lsu next year will have good numbers cuz boutte is gonna require some major attention.

Boutte may be as good as chase was in year 2

I’ve got Metchie putting up the best numbers simply because he’s gonna be the go to guy until they break in the freshmen.

His problem is he plays really handsy. He needs to reel that in. Handsy enough to get an advantage but not get called. Problem is that word is out and refs watch him like a hawk now. He also has a reputation for unsportsmanlike behavior- he won't enjoy the privileges that most receivers get from refs.

I agree. Maybe one of the freshman (Leary or Earle would be my choice)

I have a man crush on Burton so he's in my top 5. Take out whoever you want.

Jaden Walley could be up there somewhere, most definitely an honorable mention. All SEC Freshman Team. Kid has a bright future ahead of him. Should see a solid jump in year 2 with Rogers settling into Leach's offense.

Pickens has a rare ability to catch everything in sight. It's so fun to watch. If he can continue to work on his maturity, no doubt he will be a 1st rounder next year.

My list:

Pickens
Burks
Metchie
Boutte
Jaden Walley

Only guy I would consider at this point for A&M is Ainias Smith if you want to class him as a WR. He’s listed as a RB a lot of places but probably lines up more out wide

He's good and will put up some stats. Wouldn't surprise me to see him top 5 next year

Since Ole Miss had the 3rd best passing game and best returning QB, I will go with someone from the Rebels.

Similar to whomever Alabama names their starting RB will probably be a top 5 running back next year. We just do not have that name yet

The amount of WR talent leaving after this year is pretty nuts.

If you go purely by total receiving yards returning from this year only Metchie, Burks, Boutte and Walley really stand out. Those are the only guys with > 700 yards receiving this year coming back. The 5 others who went over 700 are leaving. Go down to > 600 yards and you only add 1 name - Woods at Arkansas coming back.

Just a lot of talent leaving

Burton doesn’t really deserve to be put in there yet. He was kind of mediocre in the last few games.

However he was open on every. single. play. against Florida and Bama. Stet threw it over his head. Who knows what he puts up if they could hit him.

Extremely, extremely unlikely. He was in his 2nd year here and could still barely get on the field while we started 2 freshmen over him in Boutte and Moore. He's more likely to be a portal guy than starter.
