Well no shite.

Georgia has nearly double the amount of kids playing high school football that Louisiana does.

You're comparing a state of 10.5 million to a state of 4.6 million.

Yes...exactly...no shite.

That's why uga people say GA as a HS talent state is light years better than Louisiana, because it clearly is. Then the #1 rebuttal from LSu fans is "per capita per capita!" which is irrelervnant to the topic. If you're a college coach and you're recruiting states, you don't GAF abotu per capita you care abotu where the talent is.

Obviously Georgia puts out a ton of talent simply because of the population numbers, not sure anyone here has disputed that.

I think your talent tends to get picked over and poached a little more than the talent in Louisiana though simply due to location.

Is the famed talent pool drying up in Louisiana or just being surpassed by the growth of other Southern states?

or maybe a one year sample size isn't enough data to make an assertion either way

Not sure being in the same state as Auburn is a real problem.

Maybe it doesn't apply to Georgia as much due to having those programs nearby but that doesn't mean it isn't a factor.

It doesn't apply as much to GA because their hotbed, the ATL metro, is a city fully of transplants with no inherent connections to the state. They compete with Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Clemson, Tennessee, etc. LSU really doesn't have remotely comparable regular competition for LA kids, and not many people are moving to LA from elsewhere, so there is much more of a "state pride" thing with LA kids playing for LSU. The closest P5 school to South Louisiana (where most of the blue-chip talent in LA is) is 5ish hours away. Georgia has a handful within a few hours or less of metro Atlanta. You'll notice it's always a big deal when a LA kid goes out of state. Can you same the same about a highly ranked kid from Georgia? No, because it happens all the time.

Location, location, location. It translates into recruiting.

I would rank LSU as the top job because the HS kids in LA grow up as LSU fans. A&M and UGA are up there but don't have that advantage.

I would disagree with you. If a kid is born and raised in Louisiana, LSU has the best chance of signing him. Thus, it means something.

Yeah I wonder what was unique about 2022? And are you really going to do this one year thing with every argument you have on the topic?

LSU signed the top 4 and 5 of the top 6 in 2021. They signed 3 of the top 4 in 2020. They signed 8 of the top 10 in 2019. See the trend?

UGA signed 4 of the top 10 in Georgia after winning a national title. Are you sure you want to dig your heels in with this argument?

You can’t be this dumb, can you?

You’re basing your entire argument on one year. But then again when you go as long as UGA between titles I get the importance of one season.

It’s absolutely a factor. Your peers have more influence over you than anybody. Any child psychologist will tell you that. When your friends, family members, coaches, and media exposure is disproportionate to one team you are undoubtedly influenced. Go back and look at the super blue chip prospects in Georgia, That UGA concentrated on, that went elsewhere. The % to UGA is extremely high. The problem is that you can’t take all of them and you can’t offer all of them early. Some kids are going to exceed their rankings. Inevitably some kids you don’t target are going to be 1st and 2nd round picks. It absolutely helps UGA that GA is a top 4 HS prospect state and UGA gets minimal challenge from Tech. Is it a guarantee, no. A distinct advantage, yes.

Not when it comes to building a 85 man roster.

You go to where the players but if one is in your back yard all the better

You're conflating 2 different things

Even Brian Kelly can recruit decently at LSU - tells you all you need to know. And to add insult to injury Orgeron won a championship at LSU

Case closed.

LOL!

What argument?

He said it was a hug deal when top players leave the state and I merely looked up last year's signees in the state.

Sorry I don't recall a massive meltdown

Really?

More like wishful thinking-

As of the start of last season Louisiana ranked 7th in number of players in the NFL.

And?

How does prove or disprove any point?

Is this number up or down from 5 years ago? 10 years?

I hope to God you hire someone to do your taxes.

Alabama They have all the resources they need and better facilities than most but having an instate SEC program bumps them down the list and the expectations of the fanbase are sky high right now. It will be a tough job for whoever follows in Saban's footsteps but he should have all the tools to succeed.

this is the number one job in the SEC in football period, end of story.
Probably in the nation.
Facilities, support, money, surrounded by talent in the heart of the southeast. The Auburn thing is such BS. Auburn has ALWAYS been here and Bama has still dominated the conference to where no one is even close to their records and that didn't start with Saban. Bama won a lot before Saban was even born. Yes, the fanbase is irrational. They have been for a hundred years and will be a hundred years from now but any other football job in the SEC being better is just being ignorant.
