And? Do you think I am the only person on the site wearing an avatar that does not represent their favorite team?

Not at all. I like Georgia all the way around. That said, basketball is probably my least favorite sport. Come. You've seen masquerading before on this site. I simply like the bulldog Gonzaga uses, and it has a "G".

You're the second poster to say something about it. I was going to change it after the first poster said something, but if it bothers people so much I think I'll just leave it. I've had it for probably a year or so.

I doubt most of us care about vacated basketball wins

I was there for that game. Mike the Tiger scared the crap out of us when he roared. Awesome atmosphere.

I'm a Georgia fan. You think I am dialed in to basketball. When it comes to basketball I would be the epitome of a bandwaggoner. If Georgia had really good teams, I might pay attention, but....

I'm an old white guy that could never shoot, dribble, play defense or jump. And, I am 5'11". If not for those shortcomings, I might have played in the NBA.

The teenaged high school recruits really are sold on income tax. That’s what they all say when interviewed.

This sounds like copium.

From here on out conference championships wont be that meaningful. It’s only seeding now

“Mississippi State forfeited their 1976 win over Kentucky, giving Kentucky an official 5–1 conference record and a share of the SEC title with Georgia.

It isn't pretty but I'll happily claim it”

Which is one of the most egregious acts ever committed by the NAZI’s (err NC2A). A State football player received a discount at a clothing store in Starkville that was available to ALL students. Thus they made us forfeit 19 wins and two ties between 1975-1977. It was and remains the most disgusting, disgraceful act ever committed by that organization.

Yep. It will slowly go the way of college basketball and college baseball. Conference championships really don’t matter all that much in those sports. It’s all about making the tournament.

And history and the NCAA have many more silly violations in the books. Vacated wins will soon be restored. The NCAA is close to being irrelevant in this brave new world of college football. Soon, just like Penn State, the record books will reflect that.

What do you expect. The Vols just aren't very good.

Nah, winning the SEC in football will always matter.
Going forward it'll still matter in basketball too with how tough the conference is now. I'm still mad we finished behind Auburn.
Vol fans can pretend otherwise but they literally made a book after winning a non CFP bowl.

Georgia and Kentucky both had a 5-1 record in conference. Georgia would get the nod for head to head, but technically they are co-champions.

Nope...technically, by Georgia winning Head-to-Head, they were the SEC Champions. Back then it went...conference record, then head-to-head. In the Pre-SEC CG era, you only had "co-champions" if they had the same conference record and didn't play each other.

Am I missing something? Your link shows Kentucky losing to Georgia, Kansas and Maryland, but shows them with a 4-2 record in the SEC.

They also lost to Mississippi State, but the Bulldogs had to forfeit their wins (including the one against Kentucky). So, Kentucky was outscored by MSU, but won (by a margin of negative 7 points).

That's not true. Auburn and LSU are both SEC champs for 1988 as an example even though LSU beat them in the earthquake game.

He said it hasn't been twice as long since Kentucky won an SEC title than since Tennessee won one...for some reason.... in a really dumb way.

Nvm. This is old
