Question for uSC/Arky/Mississippi schools
It helps Arkansas and hurts LSU. LSU, Texas, and OU will be competing for the same players.
We will be able to get those players that were choosing Baylor, TCU, etc. now because we will probably play in Texas just as much as those teams.

I generally like the expansion because of the additional rivalry games and intensity. The biggest impact to W/L record will be adding another SEC game, but on the other hand it appears we will also be moving Alabama and Auburn off as permanent opponents.
I have no sympathy for Aggie tears pleading to be the only SEC team in a state of 30 million while Mississippi State and Mississippi share a state ten times smaller. That being said I generally like the ags.

I genuinely am curious how you feel about this expansion. You can add Mizzou and Tenn to the list as well.
I have to imagine your best case goals every year are a 9/10 win season and a SEC championship game every 5-10 years
Now you add UT and OU and IMO you guys are the ones getting screwed because that’s two more tough games potentially added every year.
I feel like all of you are well positioned for the next 3-5 years(maybe not Tenn), but only one team can win the division/pod.
Thoughts?
I think this helps Arkansas. One thing that has been lacking for Arkansas since leaving the SWC was a heavy presence in Texas recruiting wise. With the addition of Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC, this opens up old pipelines IMO for Arkansas in football. Another point, is recruiting Oklahoma. Arkansas usually has a really good pull from the Tulsa Metro area. We will see if those kids who may have been choosing Oklahoma State, continue to do so or if they want to come play in the SEC.
My belief is that the Texas athletes who have been choosing Baylor, TCU, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, etc. will now lean more to wanting to play in the SEC, which will help Arkansas. Depending on what leagues those teams end up in, it could be even more detrimental on those programs recruiting.
From 1960-1990, Arkansas was one of the winningest programs in the nation. Will they get back to that level? Likely not, but with the playoff expansion likely going to 12 teams, you dont have to go undefeated to have a shot.
I guess we will see how it all shakes out, but I feel good about the expansion and opportunities ahead for Arkansas.

I don't want Austin or its filth anywhere near my league.

Doesn't change much if you think about it. We have a better chance at beating UT and Okie than Bama. If Bama moves to the East or some other configuration then our odds at making a championship game actually increase.
I liked the conference better pre ATM and Mizzou. Ever since those teams were added it's not the same so might as well be bigger and better.

from a football perspective - the 2 Big XXII schools change very little for Carolina.
USC's football issues have always been self-inflicted. when we get out of our own way - we're usually hard to beat and can hold our own with most everyone we play.
now for the TL,DR ...
Gamecocks view UGA, UF, UK & TN as our natural foes. we have a history playing those schools along with LSU, Ole Miss regularly during our Independent years & ACC years as well.
any school outside of those listed will be hard for Gamecock fans to truly care about beating in the same manner we care about beating those schools. Auburn & Alabama really don't move the needle other than wanting to beat that 'brand' - but they don't raise the blood pressure of our collective fan base they way the 4 main East schools do.

Im excited for the actual game aspect. I have always been one that would rather play and lose to a top/bigger team then beat the shite out of a shitty directional team. Adding Texas and OU will 100% do that.
What i am not a fan of is if they decide to keep two divisions and move Bama and AU to East and Mizzo to West.
If that is done then our division is
A&M
Texas
OU
Mizzo
Arky
State
LSU
Wouldnt even feel like we were in the SEC anymore. If that were to happen then 6 of our 7 divisional opponents would be West of Oxford.
The Pod conference set is the only thing that would be acceptable to me IMO

First, Arkansas fan here.
1. I am not in favor of any expansion. I wasn't in favor of the last one.
2. If we have to have expansion, OU and Texas make natural rivals for Arkansas, so its kind of a return to regionalism over on this side of the West, even though it dilutes the league even further.
That league cohesion went out the window in 2012. So I'm apathetic about losing it more.

I'm all for it. It will push Bama to the East, so I'd much rather play OU/Texas every year instead of Bama. Not worried at all about Texas, and even OU has lost back to back games against Kansas State, so they're beatable.
Plus, if gives some nice regional/geography rivals to play.

Doesn't the Mizzou switch throw the numbers off?
Why not an even swap 2 added to West for 2 sliding over to East?
Each division has 7 teams currently.
Add two to the the east, you get 9 in the east, 7 in the west (including OU TX).
Switch Mizzou to the west the balance it out.
That's the math.

It is just going to be time when fans will have to understand records will change. We have been slowly getting used to this in our league for a while, and with more programs added with solid teams it builds. 8-4 and 9-3 years will have to be regarded as very good season. It will be a realization that you can beat everyone on your schedule, but everyone on your schedule can beat you. The mental grind on teams will be as real as the physical.

Probably hurts us from a competitive standpoint but I want to see how it shakes out with divisions/pods before rushing to judgment.

OU puts pressure on those teams that compete for the SEC Championship: Florida, LSU, Auburn, uga, bamma. I don't think it impacts the other teams, like MSU, SC, TAMU, Kentucky, Vandy etc within the conference, and I don't think UT impacts either of the two groups, outside a recruiting bump, if they get one.
