It's amazing how many SEC ranters have chimed in about OU (and Texas) falling on their face once they join the conference.

As an OU fan that is the most frustrating thing about the lame duck status... listening to the smack talk for two or three more years.

I'd much rather get in there and start scrapping in order to see what happens.

But suffice it to say. If OU does indeed drop to the middle of the pack in the SEC there will be a lot of "I told you so's".

If OU performs at a high level then nobody will admit that they predicted that OU was going to be mediocre.

And if OU is good (I think they will be from #3-#6) SEC fan will go with "Well, they didn't win the championship".

But if OU were somehow to win the SEC early on...

God have mercy on your souls because Mojo Eraser won't.

The simple fact of the matter is Oklahoma would have to improve greatly to achieve what you are talking about. It could happen, but the odds are - it won't and there is nothing at all that indicates you are on that path.

Especially given the direction college football is heading and how Riley just took a good portion of your last class with him.

So while you are bitching about "lame duck status", the truth is that's the only reason you can even pretend you'll be good in the future. If you were joining the SEC next year, you'd be losing many games.

Your post season losses just became your regular season losses.

I don't know how well he will do honestly, and that's because he has 0 head coaching experience.

Our last two head coaches had 0 years head coaching experience previously. Record-wise, that hasn't worked out too badly for us. There are obviously some unknowns here, but it's not like we haven't done this before - and done it pretty well.

What's your record against the SEC in games that matter over the past 15 years?

I heard OU knows they aren’t ready for the SEC and don’t want to be embarrassed and demoralized in year one sealing their fate as the next Tennessee of the SEC.

Why is it that Texas fans actually answered the questions and Sooners fans took it as an insult? I think you Sooner fans still have Omaha bats stuck up your arse or something.

i actually think OU will have success in the SEC. Venables will recruit an elite level defense like they had back when Roy Williams and Rocky Calmus and tommie harris played. I think hiring Venables was a genius move. He will have a head start on recruiting and could possible have a moderate SEC defense when he starts and will only get better. Having the SEC ties to recruiting will be great for them. Im much more concerned about them than i am the evil orange empire of Austin.

I would think OU will consistently be in the 9 wins a year mark with an outside chance of playing in the SECCG if things fall right. They will not upseat Bama or Geargia any time soon.

OU has been in the same conference with some of the Big 12 schools for over 100 years. The Texas courtesy of one year wouldn't give them much time.

OU is 8-6 vs the SEC over the past 20 years and its six losses come vs teams that the rest of the SEC went 5-46 against. So this is not really an indication of how OU would fare in the SEC.

I personally do not think the Longhorns are ready for the SEC yet and need a couple of recruiting classes to fix the non existent defense. The wait will either assist with the fix, or the Longhorns will never succeed in the SEC.

Looks to me like if you stay out of the playoffs y'all do ok. I'm sure we will help you out with that.
Yes sir. If half of the other team doesn't play y'all put a whuppin' on them.

Obviously you cant read of comprehend I said BIG 12 won all there bowl games vs SEC.... but if you want to count OUs wins lets not stop at 5 games and go back 20 or even a life time for a real evident record.... you do realize we also playng the best of the best every bowl game.... while LSU is wishing they were in the peanut bowl last season.

It is frustrating for me. The Big 12 has sucked for a while now. As an OU fan it's hard to get excited when you are playing this schedule. No offense to the other Big 12 teams but Texas is the only other team in this conference that I get excited to play and to be honest, OU fans go in expecting to win that game. Unlike how it used to be.

I am looking forward to having big time match up's in the regular season. Regardless of the outcome.
