Question for rivals who play a yearly neutral game

Florida-Georgia fans and Texas-Oklahoma fans.
Would yall rather do home and homes or stay neutral site? As a fan of a team without a rivalry setup like that, I often wonder what the fans of those games think.

History and tradition matter and mean something. Or at least used to, although it's ever eroding in today's CFB.
So it should absolutely stay in Jacksonville. It's the most unique game in all of CFB and other than stadium renovations it's been played there for nearly 100 years. Going home and home makes it just like any other game.

It makes you wonder why most SEC teams elected to play in the kickoff classics.

They must have been given some cash because taking away a home game would hurt their local economy by 1/7th.
**I was lucky enough to go to some pretty good games at OOC stadiums.

UTranny is dog shite on the road so of course their neutral site game in Dallas counts as an away game.

Seems a bit ridiculous of an opinion taken at face value. You think aTm-Texas or Iron Bowl or UM-OSU or bama, Georgia, or Florida vs Tennessee or Bama-LSU feel like any other game to those fan bases?

GA-FL is fine in Jax, but I don't get rotating it to other neutral sites during the stadium revamp. It should be home-home for those two years.

It does from the stand point of not having a 50-50 fan split in the stadium with the game being playing at the same location every year. I miss the iron bowl being a neutral site game. (cue the whining from the AU fans)

Yes. So cool to be in the stadium that's half you and half the enemy. Then when the Horns are up, say hypothetically 49-0, it's half Texas and half empty. Un-fricking-believable.
Also, being surrounded by the State Fair is amazing, as there's plenty to do before and after the game.

This is what makes it more unique than Florida-Georgia to me for sure.

-it's split 50/50, which only one other neutral site does
-it's actually near the state line of both states, unlike Dallas
-instead of being in a dusty flat state fair it's in a tropical setting on a river and near the beach
-Unlike other rivalry games where people go in on Friday and leave on Sunday, people make a week long vacation of it. The beach is 20 minutes away and there's excellent golf anywhere you turn
There are other neutral site games. There are other games in warm climates. There aren't any rivalry games that blend everything that this game does and create the atmosphere it does.

I think they are a normal regular game on all of their schedules, yes. A game that birmingham residents (in the case of the IB) can get up in their home on saturday morning, attend the game, and be back home by bedtime Saturday night. They aren't a party themed fall vacation like the WLOCP is.

Absolutely every home/away "rivalry" game is like any other game to the players, or at least not incrementally different based on the sheer historical relevancy of a "rivalry game" from how the present years' matchup impacts conference standings and rankings for the teams in question.
Now, it's not the most unique game from a fans' perspective. Many bowl and championship games are more unique, and it's behind Army-Navy for regular season games. But it's at the top of heap for all the rest, specifically because there are so few neutral site games, it has an entire foundation and HoF around that single game, schools take entire Fall Break around the game, so the unchanging destination earns its own legacy of experience for fans and students, it's played around Halloween, etc.
And all of that real-time fan experience and school-supported hype (Fall Break, caravan-ing to an annual destination) absolutely does impact the players in real time, such that the game to them does feel different than even a rivalry home/away game

I agree completely, I was one of a few Gators that got to see a Florida / Georgia game on both campuses. The game after the renovations should return to Jax.
