No. I don't.
I'm not sure what it is, but they always seem to be held back for some reason.
They've ALWAYS had all the built in advantages, but they've never really crossed into elite territory.

I know this thread says I can't weigh in, but personally all I am expecting is some top 5 recruiting class that put a lot of heat on Mr. Herman.

has anyone really won big at A&M? Very few have. Jimbo won the lottery. The results are TBD.
We have a few stints here and there. I won't go before 1950 but here is when A&M "won bigish".

All I'll say is Jimbo Fisher would have to do something that's never been done before.

That isn't true. We went from all-male military school for most of our history. We let women in in the 60s. We went through some major growth, but were always playing catch up and at a major disadvantage before scholarship limits with DKR owning Texas recruiting. We broke out somewhat in the 80s/90s, but feel behind again when OU/tu hired Mack & Stoops and built up facilities while ours aged. It took firing RC, failing with Fran before we started to try and catch up. Now we're lapping the field as far as facilities, support, etc, but saying we've always had these advantages we do now is a mistake.

I think TAMU can pay more for a coach than anyone and for some reason they wanted Jumbo.
I really don't think Fisher is that good of a coach.

He will improve the team and likely get a SEC championship.

What happened to your tradition? Thought yall were all about that.

Does that mean we get to take Tennessee's place?
Posted on 12/4/17 at 2:01 pm to okietiger
Yes. They will begin to win a game in November

Jimbo's success at A&M will be similar to the success he's had at FSU.

I know that this perception is out there, but it really isn't quite true. We've always been in a good recruiting area, but we've been playing catchup with our competitors for 50 years. A&M was an all-male, all-military school well into the 60s. We started trending up when that changed, and were fortunate that this coincided with the advent of scholarship limitations and integration--that allowed us to get competitive on the field in the 70s when we otherwise wouldn't have been. But, when the dust from all that upheval settled, we still had a smaller alumni base and smaller season ticket base than the "blue bloods" in our neighborhood.
That's no longer the case. We can now compete on an equal footing with anybody when it comes to resources. I don't know why people make the mistake of thinking college football is static. When I was a kid in the '70s, Florida was still years away from their first SEC title, and Miami was considering giving up football. Nebraska was a juggernaught. Arkansas was nationally relevant. Things change.

If next level means better than Sumlin then yes.

They won't start going 10-2/11-1 every year, but they'll be a consistent Top 25 team with a few Top 10 years in which they seriously challenge for the conference and playoffs.
As an A&M fan this is my expectation. And I know it won’t start next year, but I think we can win 8 games next year then build from there. And there will obviously be down years because SEC West

I think we will all laugh at Aggies next year and then not so much
will be solid
will be solid

Ags will not make the SECCG under Jimbo. And JF will be fired in late November of 2023. JF's Ags will finally beat LSU, but he will be 1-5 versus LSU when he is terminated.

Nothing is certain but you have to at least try. It's hard to imagine a better hire. Doesn't mean it will work out.
