Question for non-A&M fans: do you think Jimbo will take Ags to next level?

First of all: they got their guy no matter the cost. Well done.

But I’m just not convinced that he’s going to go in there and be able to replicate his 2010-2014 run with FSU in College Station. Which is precisely what the Ags are expecting.

He was trending down without question at FSU. Will he turn it around with a change of scenery? Color my not convinced. Especially considering this was only about money for him. That would scare me if I was an Ags fan.

Unfortunately yes. They might not win a national title but they’ll be the first little 8 to win the SEC.

I hope not. Could you imagine how awful their fans would be if they won?

Yes. With the right coordinators. Maybe not elite level, but alot higher than where they are now.

has anyone really won big at A&M? Very few have. Jimbo won the lottery. The results are TBD.

Honestly, I think it depends on how soon Saban retires. The SEC West can just be brutal with Bama, Auburn, and LSU. But Jimbo is a really good hire for the Ags, and I think they could make the playoffs in the next 5 years for sure.

They averaged 8.5 wins a year with Sumlin. So Jimbo gives them at least a 2+ win bump? That’s a tall task in the SEC West even with Ole Miss, Arky, and possibly MSU being down.

Maybe. I've never really been impressed with Jimbo as a head coach, but he recruits well and Texas is fertile with talent. So he'll have talent to work with.

He needs to shed Trickett though. FSU's OL has been horrible the past few seasons.

So who do they directly hurt? LSU? Bama? Aubbie?

Maybe prevent Arky, Ole Miss, or MSU from becoming relevant again?

He's a better HC than Orgeron. If he can get the right people in there, he should overtake LSU in the SECW hierarchy. Auburn is up and down, he'll need to time his up years on Auburn's down years.

I think he'll have them at Auburn's level in a few years. Nipping at Bama's heels, beating them every few tries, winning the West here or there.

Won the NC with a great QB, has been mediocre without him. Jimbo never had much success when the ACC wasn't awful.

I think A&M will be more consistent and have a higher ceiling. They won't start going 10-2/11-1 every year, but they'll be a consistent Top 25 team with a few Top 10 years in which they seriously challenge for the conference and playoffs.

What's the bar and what's even slightly over achieving? If Ole Miss and Mississippi State can make New Years Six bowls, and finish with a winning record in the division, it's certainly a reasonable expectation for A&M.
