You can recruit third best in GA and still have an amazing class.

We tried that for about 15 years... it gives you good, but not great.

This will always be an issue with states like GA --- with Tenn it is not every year though.

Not sure I followed this comment... I think all the poster was getting at was that there was a general imbalance on where the talent was accumulated... the state of TN may have a higher number of 4* recruits than normal, but it's heavily overlapping in a few positions, making it necessary for UT to still dip outside the state or pull lower rated guys in-state to make up a complete class. Ultimately, everyone has to do it to some degree, but the idea that somehow UT is going to turn that crop of 4* into a #3 rated class is silly. They'd have to pull multiple 5*s from out of state to even have a chance. The reality though, is that almost EVERY SEC team is going to load up on talent in 2019... it is an exceptional year for talent in the southeast it seems. Alabama is above the curve for the year, Mississippi as well... Georgia loaded at talent per usual, but particularly in positions of need for UGA and seemingly already starting to lock up the ones we want.

I agree.

I was trying to comment more on the immense amount of talent that comes out of GA every year.

Seeing as how you're a VFL, I figured you would have remembered the 200 yards of rushing that a third-stringer and a fourth-stringer hung at Neyland Shithole on the Vols, Bitch.

Lol, we gave up an average over 250 yards on the ground this year, moron.

I think everyone except Southern Miss had over 200 against Bob Poops shitty defense.

Charles Kelly
Wasn't he one of the AU candidates a couple of yrs ago when Muschamp jumped to USC? He's a good hire as a position coach with extensive DC experience under his belt.

Coaching staff is irrelevant.

Pruitt is going to blow an O ring with Phil all up in his business, recruiting, talking to the press, etc. He's the least equipped coach in football to emotionally be able to handle that kind of BS.

It's only a matter of time and it will be glorious.

Expected by whom exactly? LOL

You mean if Boom decides not to name BMac OC?

Well frick. LMAO

BMac can do whatever he wants. If he shows-out play-calling in the Outback Bowl then more power to him. If he doesn't ... then more power to him but, even then, I wouldn't 'expect' him to jump ship and run to Knoxville which, let's be honest, has been a shite show for so long every coach who has gone there has pretty-much ended his career in P5 football.

Odds are BMac, especially after the raises about to be handed-out, will still be wearing the Garnet & Black next season.

Scrooster, you have different sources than I do.

I still firmly believe that BMac wants that promotion and responsibility. Either at USC or elsewhere.

That said... he isn't taking a lateral move. Not even for slightly more money.
Knowing Muschamp's history, the OC position could be open again in a year or 2.

Every fan base has their quirks. Tennessee's overriding quirk has become their delusions of grandeur. Butch Jones encouraged that mentality among the Vol beat writers and fans. Butch may be gone, but he apparently left his personality as a legacy to the Vol nation.

BMac definitely wants the title and the money and responsibilities. I'm pulling for him because I like him a lot ... very personable fella, helluva recruiter.

mUSChamp's offenses will be fixed by recruiting solid players first ... which he had problems doing at UF. He got off on the wrong foot with that fat guy Weiss at UF and never recovered.

Boom corrected first things first ... he got Wolford The Wolf back as the OLine coach. He'll get the OC job handled as well ... but OCs come and go. How many has Bama had in the past decade?

Good OCs get HC gigs, average OCs survive, bad OCs get fired. Next to QB OCs get more blame than anyone because we are all expert playcallers.

I hope BMac does well in Tampa. The players and his fellow coaches are pulling for him. Even if he does just average, he's still gonna get a helluva raise and Boom is loyal to him ... that's job security. Hell, he may get a three year contract and big pay raise to keep doing what he's doing here.

I agree though, he's not going to take the same job at Tennessee for a little more money.

Speaking with Tennessee family of mine ... they all insist Tennessee is still a destination job and, who knows, it may be, but they seem to be more in a decline. Pruitt has his work cut out for him and it's not a sure thing. Rumpf for instance ... he's a former Gamecock that will never be allowed to coach at his alma mater and for good reason. Regardless, he is not a big hire ... he's just about run out of big time options, he's a journeyman.

Tennessee came after Lance Thompson and Lance said thanks but no thanks. I suspect Lance is in BMac's ear about their age and stage and having job security at this point in their careers. From my interactions with some of them they seem like a very tight-knit staff at the moment ... Roper was always the odd man out. Roper needs to be in the NFL coaching QBs as a paid analyst or position coach, whatever they call them at that level.

Boom's next OC hire, whoever he is, needs to be instinctual. That's what sets the good ones apart. No need to reinvent the wheel, just do it rapidly and make it second nature. Easier said than done.

I'm pulling for BMac ... I'll be there cheering for him.
