It is harder to win a title in basketball than football.
The NCAA tournament unlike college football has provided as much parity as they could to basketball.

BAMA was and is the regular and tourney SEC champion in 2 out of the last 3 years. BAMA has gone to the last 3 Big Dances. BAMA is the number one overall seed for the Big Dance.
