Jerry Stovall is the only LSU coach in history (and maybe in CFB) to win the National Coach of the Year (1982) sandwiched around losing seasons before and after it.

A former Newman High (uptown NOLA and school of the Mannings) and Ole Miss basketball player is the reason Nick Saban left Michigan State and the Saints won the Super Bowl:

Sean Tuohy contacted LSU Chancellor Mark Emmert and A.D. Joe Dean about his friend Jimmy Sexton's client - Michigan State Coach Nick Saban and suggested they interview him.

Thanks to Tuohy,
Saban went to LSU, then to Miami, whereupon he rejected Drew Brees in '06 for Daunte Culpepper.

We know where Saban ended up after he informed his staff on the Dolphin headquarters intercom;
and who LSU chose a decade ago....

Auburn holds the SEC record for most consecutive seasons with a 1,000 yard rusher. Five in a row soon to be six in a row. They also have the second longest streak at 4 (2002-2005).

LSU is 48-3 in TS on Sat night games under Miles. The three teams that have beaten LSU in that scenario either were or became #1 in the country. UF, Bama, and now MSU...

LSU has a winning record under Miles when trailing in the fourth quarter, 24-23. Almost double the next best team.

I had a hard time fathoming those. To listen to our fans you would think we shite the bed regularly on Sat Nights.

Auburn and Mississippi State are ranked in the top 3 in the country, but played a game with a final score of 3-2 not that long ago. (worst football game I ever saw.)

Auburn also played USCe in Columbia and held the football for the entire 3rd quarter. SC's first possession of the second half was in the 4th quarter. Drove Spurrier nuts.

Whitworth (1955-1957) is the only Alabama head coach* to not have a 10 win season since before Xen Scott went 10-1 in 1920.

*must have coached at least one game.

Xen Scott, Wallace Wade, Frank Thomas, Red Drew, Paul Bryant, Ray Perkins, Bill Curry, Gene Stallings, Mike DuBose, Dennis Franchione, Mike Shula, and Nick Saban all had at least one 10 win season.

Jimmy Johnson was snubbed for the Arkansas coaching job. Can't remember who they chose over him

Bill Self was also snubbed over Stan Heath to replace Nolan. Kansas folks will deny this.

In 2008 Georgia had Matt Stafford, A.J. Green and Knowshon Moreno on the same team and did not win the East and lost in Sanford Stadium to GT in the final regular season game.

That 2008 WLOP with Stafford and Moreno was soooooo sweet!
I remember watching Cam Newton on the bench taking pictures with other players (redshirt year), and thinking boy, we will be fine when he takes over...

Has any other school had 2 NFL head coaches leave to coach at their school? Carolina has Spurrier.

Ray Perkins left the NY Giants to come to Alabama, and of course, Saban left the Dolphins to take the helm in Tuscaloosa.
