Gotta love the moving goal posts! Hey did you hear the SEC is going to suspend Kiffin because the Governor has too much control?!
You mean Gov Jeff Landry, who took the lead on getting Brian Kelly fired. And then took the lead in hand-picking Kiffin as his replacement? That Gov Landry?
Do you live in a gingerbread house?

That's a fair critique and qualification, but it's the next sentence which captures the fundamental issue driving this standoff...
The rest of the SEC will note, however, that the other 15 schools are operating from a shared base of understanding to which LSU may no longer subscribe.
No doubt. It appears as though LSU has hurt some feelings around the conference, notice there's not any actual wrongdoing alleged.
Just some people who "think" and "believe" certain things and are varying degrees of worried/angry over it.

That's weird, this board insisted that Landry absolutely screwed up the coaching search and would be the reason LSU didn't hire Kiffin.

FIFY. If Brian Kelly was still coaching there wouldn't be any pearl clutching but since we took the Lane Train out of Oxford everyone has their panties in a twist.

I've been addressing this in other threads, like the legal thread. The SEC is barking up the wrong tree by ignoring the legal aspects of the current football climate

You didn't post during the coaching search.

I'd think the smart thing is for LSU to ride it out under current SEC standards until the conference can break away and form their own pro league. But, not sure waiting will fly in BR?

Political influence on the LSU admin?
Political influence at a State University? No way!
This is unfathomable.
It's becoming pretty clear that this is a left vs. right battle. This is about the leftist SEC presidents pushing against a conservative LSU president and a conservative LSU governor.
Choose your side wisely.
So far, SEC fans like yourself haven't been able to recognize the pattern we see everywhere of a controlled narrative being pushed when the facts don't really add up.

Just depends on how far the conference pushes things.
There's really nothing positive that comes from being in a conference that is desperate to punish you for something, anything at all.
The selective enforcement is nuts, and bordering on personal vendettas at this point.

LSU playing victim here is about right. They never claim any responsibility in anything they do that’s wrong. At the end of the day, LSU still tried to cheat, and was only stopped when the SEC stepped in. That’s a fact. The Presidents don’t want LSU to continue this behavior, so I would suspect some sanctions to come down. Probably just probation at this point, but there will be something. If there’s no consequences, then LSU will just do this shite again.
Leftist thought process.

Florida - got spurned and nationally embarrassed in the Lane Kiffin search
This happened. And, it shouldn't be understated. They not only didn't get Kiffin, they were extremely confident that they were getting him and were embarrassed as a result.
quote:
Ole Miss - got left by someone they loved
Obvious. They were extremely embarrassed that at the height of their program, their leader recognized a better opportunity. It hurt them.
quote:
Alabama - star fading and worried they won’t be as relevant as LSU
True, although I haven't heard as much from Alabama.
Tennessee on the other hand has a leftist president woman who is driving this for political purposes. She's been able to whip votes/sentiment so far among SEC Presidents. She's butthurt because LSU managed to do something very few Universities have done recently...move to the right by hiring a conservative President, led by a conservative Governor. It has removed tons of DEI programs.
That's wholly unacceptable among leftists in the University space.
I for one LOVE that Tennessee, Florida, and Ole Miss fans have aligned with this leftist point of view. It's who they are and can't be denied.

The SEC is intimidated by LSU that’s the bottom line…that hate that it’s now so aligned…

Based on the article OP linked, it seems to mostly be "feelings" rather than actual fact. And some hurt feelings.

Serious question - where does LSU stand to gain anything if the conference is determined to punish them?
I mean we're being sued and threatened with expulsion here, despite not actually violating any rules. Meanwhile, multiple other schools have violated the same rule and it's crickets.
What am I missing?
