You're incorrect. In order to play in the SEC Championship it is required that you play 8 SEC games

Yes, now you have to because the commissioner decided that in 2016 after this controversy arose. It was not in the rules. In fact, the rules for tiebreakers specifically contemplate the possibility of teams winning the division without playing all their conference games. There are 2-team divisional tiebreakers after head to head, which means there is a possibility the two tied teams might not have played.

Florida was trying to cancel the game to get an advantage for the SEC East race and eveyone knew it. A cancelled game meant even if LSU beat bama and won all their sec games they would still finish second. They had to have the game Florida had insurance coverage and didn't

For older fans it started because Florida used to go in dry on LSU every year. Then LSU improved and evened the match every year now they hate Florida because of the hurricane but who they should hate is Aleva. If he had left it alone and the game was just cancelled the series remains as is but instead he ran his mouth, got beat and then had to travel to Gainesville 2 yrs in a row. He really got bent over the barrel trying to act like he had leverage he really doesn't have.

Alleva didn't have any leverage. He offered to play the game in an empty stadium, he offered to travel to any available stadium, he offered to play in Gaineseville before or after, he offered Tiger Stadium, he did everything he could.

Foley wanted it played on Saturday, in Gainesville, or not at all. He only offered a compromise when it was made clear that neither team would get to Atlanta without that game being played, and he mouthed off as soon as he got an open mic and lied about everything.

What you had here was an old cockjuggling thundercount of an AD in Foley, realizing he could get one over on a bitchmade commissioner in Sankey, and he did. And when it bit him in the arse, he sold red meat to his base and said LSU was never a negotiating partner.

Foley expected LSU to give up a home game to fix his poor planning and childish reaction, and there was no way LSU was doing that, after the summer we had in Baton Rouge.

Basically, poor planning on Foley and Florida's part did not constitute, an emergency for LSU, and they found that out.

LSU feels like they are getting screwed by having to play UF in football every year and feels like Alabama and Tennessee caused this.
