Big 6 (SEC NC contending teams). Traditionally every big 6 team played two other big 6 teams a year for better TV matchups.
Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
LSU
Tennessee
Big 6 playing big six every year with new rotation.
Alabama - Auburn, Tennessee
Auburn - Alabama, Georgia
Florida - Georgia, ? one???
Georgia - Auburn, Florida
LSU - ? None, seriously, NONE???
Tennessee - Alabama, ? one???
Others
Kentucky - Tennessee, Florida
USC - Florida, Georgia
Vanderbilt - Tennessee, Auburn
How in the absolute hell did Kentucky, USC and Vandy get harder schedules then Florida and Tennessee? I am not even going to discuss what is going on with LSU getting none, that's NUTS!!!! Why is there no Florida LSU? I understand you can't load up Auburn and Alabama with 3 of the big 6 , But at least give them one vs the big 6 and UF would at least qualified as a Big 6 matchup? Damn....lots of the big 6 games are gone...hopefully LSU fans lose it on the SEC office and they get back UF at the minimum.
For you other teams that are newer to the league. Win a NC while a member of the SEC and we will talk about updating the big 6...This is an old SEC conference discussion... Also shut your trap's with that absolute gift of a 3 game slate...you each play 1 NC title contending team instead of 2. Sankey kissing that arse apparently.

Not really, we always wanted and expected bama and uga but most of us would have preferred Florida over Vandy.

Florida vs LSU is a game I'm going to miss. Crazy games and series.

To be fair, we are arse and would probably lose (by one score) no matter who we played.

The only reason to do 3 permanents is to preserve Bama-LSU. This is stupid

Yeah but in those 21 years, some really fun games were played. I've missed it.
I'm not saying a didn't enjoy the game, but it was a manufactured thing with the 1st expansion and died with the 2012 expansion.
Regardless, the state of college football is just sad. Expansion is stupid. It has done nothing but kill the regionalism which made college sports unique.
I don't want to have to "pick 3" from all the different teams we've enjoyed playing yearly for decades and decades. I want to play all of them. And I think most actual fans would agree. They can argue and troll saying Tam A is more important to them than Team B, but if we're being honest, any real fan doesn't want to lose any yearly matchup. The only winners here are the people collecting the checks from the networks, and that isn't any of us.

I wonder if they will mix up some of the lesser/non-rivalries every 4 years.
For instance, Bama could keep Auburn and TN but switch someone for MSU.

How did Texas A&M wind up with that cake walk?

Alabama and uga really with the easiest rivals among the top teams of the conference.

I still think they should've done four team pods geographically. I mean, if we are saying frick rivalries to some teams, might as well say it to all of them.
Some of these are clearly harder than others.
Tougher than geographical:
LSU, Ark, OM, AM, Aub, UGA
Maybe tougher:
State, OU, Bama, Tenn
Geographically accurate:
Fla, SoCar
Maybe easier:
Texas
Easier:
Mizzou, Vandy, KY
That being said, as an LSU fan I'll take this. I'll miss Florida and Bama, but we will still play them. I like getting Arky as a rivalry week and OM was our only guarantee. AM is a money game.

Damn Arky is a beaten dig right now then they add this to the pain train. Two top tier programs and Mizzou who has totally owned them.

The caveat is you still play all but one team inside of those four years, so not all is lost.
As a Georgia fan, I wanted Kentucky. Nobody wants to travel to away games in Columbia.

It seems that OU/OleMiss and Vandy/State were the last two pieces of the entire puzzle.

The loss of Florida versus LSU is simply tragic. Also, LSU and Alabama. LSU got an easy draw but lost a lot of actual rivalries
Posted on 9/22/25 at 10:16 am to scottydoesntknow
I am ok with Texas and LSU for the hogs, but someone else take Mizzou please.
Losing Ole Miss is a heart breaker. Those games are must watch TV most years. They end up coming down to Ole Miss pulling a "WAOM" or us pulling a "oh yeah, hold my beer moment".

Agreed, LSU vs A&M is a forced "Rivalry" and neither fan base cares about it much
It's not really forced though. The only teams we have played more than them are the Mississippis, Tulane, Alabama, Florida, and Arkansas.

as a Gamecock fan, it is nice to have some traditional rivals again.
