Indeed. It's actually closer to 99.6%.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the U.S. does have a relatively low case fatality rate of 3.3 percent, compared to countries like Canada (7.5 percent), the United Kingdom (15.1 percent), Italy (14.1 percent) and France (13.3 percent).
Again, your bama math is pure BS.

It seems like you're arguing that these numbers state that 3.3 percent of people die from it? But maybe I'm interpreting you wrong.
These numbers say 3.3 percent of people who get it die from it..
and only around 1 percent of americans have gotten it. so thats 3 percent of 1 percent..
regardless.. i doubt forde has ever had a source.. hes just hoping to get it right with the writing on the wall.
unfortunately, i think he will be.

Whether Forde is right or wrong....he is a total douche. UK fans despise him and he is a flaming Louisville/ACC fanboy.

WHO says between .5% and 1% chance of death among those that catch the disease.
WHO Infection Fatality Rate
The Johns Hopkins thing you copied was among positive tests only. If we are being smart, we should count all the people that had no symptoms and never took a test

what I am arguing is the bama fan says less than 1% die who contract the virus. I am showing him numbers that state the death rate is much higher.

well, duh. It's hard to die from a virus you don't contract.

I think the PGA tour will go on, they have already demonstrated they have a strict COVID-19 testing protocol and have been playing for 2 months without fans.
The PGA has just completed 3 rounds and they have had no issues there. The US Open and Masters will be played, just with no fans.
NBA, while I don't watch it, seems to have protocols that work. MLB could be a problem and NFL could get cancelled if once they start practicing guys break the Bubble and infect entire teams.

So if you weren't tested, you didn't contract it?

They can only extrapolate their numbers off of positive tests. Have people contracted it and not been tested? I am sure that has happened. Has this scenario happened enough to drop the death rate below 1% from the known numbers.........no chance in hell.

I don’t understand why there continues to be arguments over death rates, when everything one needs to know to calculate death rates is right there, updated daily, on the CDC National Center for Health Statistics website.
LINK
Deaths involving Covid 144,073
Deaths as a direct result of Covid 62,719
Average age of Covid death. 77
Average life expectancy pre Covid. 78 years 10 months
Covid deaths age 54 and younger 7%
Covid deaths with NO OTHER underlying health condition 8%
CDC confirmed cases 4,920,369
CDC projected cases 10X confirmed cases
Death rate as a direct result of Covid infection:
62,719 / 49203,690 = 0.13% for all people
For healthy people under age 55, death rate is 0.0007%

I hate to put a monetary value on this football season but if the SEC gives the NCAA the finger and is the only conference that plays, the money from the TV ratings and the additional exposure will create an even larger talent gap.
Posted on 8/8/20 at 9:32 pm to OccamsStubble
That data is all well and good. The only problem......that is data from the U.S. only. This is a world wide virus. The Johns Hopkins link I provided shows the death rate for more than just the U.S..
ETA no matter how you want to slice it. Saying 99.6% who contract this virus survive is absolute and utter BS.

Dude the CDC and the WHO are both saying the fatality rate is around 0.3-0.7. Neither one of those are organizations that would downplay the numbers, they would do the opposite if anything.
