I doubt they give them an automatic playoff birth unless they expand to 14 teams soon like they have discussed.

Pretty much. If you're just grabbing any team you can, the conference will be an also-ran. Boise State is the only team with a pulse in that group. They could hold out for a better offer.

Then, looking further, there’s a real chance that some power 2 teams will be asked to leave.

If you cannot pack your stadium, make money, or win enough, you aren’t safe from relegation.

There has been no indicator of that or any sources, I am just saying that money dictates the slices of the pie…..and the big schools will want less slices and they will win.

Utah State
Texas State

Yeah, they should nab Texas State just to get in this market.

Then maybe Utah State or New Mexico Lobos or something? Wyoming? Nevado-Reno?

Would just be curious to see if they get an automatic playoff berth.

Those arent tied to conferences. It's just top 5 conference champs.

If it is recognized as a p5, would cal and Stanford return?

I think most were leaning toward UTSA being the next Texas school to pop off the queue.

But it should be Texas State. UTSA is a commuter school, they don't even have their own stadium.

If Texas State beats Arizona State tonight - which could happen - they will get the phone call.

Do Stanford and cal go back

Idk, but I'm pretty sure you need 8 teams to be considered a coference in the NCAA. Those 2 would make it 8, and it makes a lot more sense than them being in the ACC.

Would it be recognized as a power 5 conference is question. Bc then they would take a playoff stop.

Who decides what’s a power conference? How did the big 12 just retain power status by default by adding a bunch of G5 teams? It’s makes zero sense.

Up to PAC 6 now

And keep on mind they have all that money from last year to help pay these teams buyouts

One good thing for the pac12 is they play so late that they get some viewership because they’re the only games on. I used to look for Washington state when the pirate was there, never knew what was going to happen.

That’s all I got.

Will this encourage Cal and Stanford to return to the PAC-12? The whole reason they left was because of the perceived collapse of the PAC-12. The ACC isn't in a much better shape. The Mountain West should take back Idaho, along with Montana, Montana St, NDSU, and SDSU.

Because they didn't add a bunch of G5 teams? They added Pac-12 schools...

But how we feel is irrelevant. It’s whether the committee updates the rules and recognizes them as a power conference. Then they would take an auto bid, might even expand to 16 team playoffs tbh.

If we go to 16 teams, then bowl games need to go away. No one will watch them.

UCF and for the most part Houston are also commuter schools. The no on campus stadium may or may not be a deal breaker though

UCF is a commuter school? Dang, they have 60k undergrads. Are they in a huge city like Houston where they all live at home?

It should. This makes more sense for those two. Flying cross country for the ACC is dumber than dumb. They might even become relevant again.

I doubt Cal and Stanford are going until the ACC blows up. In the meantime, I bet the Pac-12 is looking east for another team like Memphis.
