I will assume you plan to hang with the SEC for at least a few years. Most of the SEC gameday experiences are great. Each has its own personality and most have copious quanity of high end eye candy. Take you time, hit a couple a year then choose where you enjoy the most for the second round.

Make an effort to hook up with some of the home team fans that have been doing the tailgate thing for a few years, they will make sure you enjoy the visit.

Clearly the first is referring to OM, but why bring Rutgers/Princeton into this?

I suppose you should ask yourself this question, does the games relevancy impact your experience? If you take a trip to Tuscaloosa you will be visiting a place where your University's favored son won a National Championship (Hey y'all fired him. Don't be mad.) and where one of your former coaches broke records. You will most likely be playing a national title contender, and ESPN and the like will be there. The atmosphere will be electric. Bama fans will turn out in droves for the aTm game.

You go to Ole Miss, and I doubt you will have the same level of history and anticipation. It won't be the featured game of the week. It might even be a SEC Network game.

I'm biased as hell, but if you only make one trip NEXT YEAR, make it Tuscaloosa.

And I love Oxford. But come one.

With Alabama's stadium expansion in 2006 and 2010, along with the Bruno Event Team doing all of the logistical stuff for campus, the atmosphere of gameday is tremendous in Tuscaloosa now. I've never see a more coordinated and amazing tailgating scene. That was something I chastised UA about for a long time, after visiting Baton Rouge and Oxford several times before Alabama made changes.

Yeah last time I went to t town was in 2004 and wasn't overly impressed, but like you said I've heard it had made huge strides the last 5 years or so.

Baton Rouge

I think LSU is an awesome gameday atmosphere, especially with the yats. But a coordinated atmosphere it is not. BR is all over the place on game day, not really any logistical symmetry.

Women in Oxford are slutty as shite. Not hard to get laid in any SEC town though

To the OP, Oxford is a fun place to party and ya'll will more likely beat Ole Miss. The better overall experience will be in Tuscaloosa, but ya'll will most likely lose.

I wasn't really suggesting that Baton Rouge was, but rather Alabama's lack of coordination before 2006 led to a lackluster scene, unless it was a big game. Now, Alabama offers a tremendous scene on any game weekend.

There is nothing controlled about it. I went to the LSU/Florida game a few years ago with some law school people from UF. Idiots were wearing UF jerseys and I tried to warn them that was a bad idea. They were drenched with drinks and screams all day, people just don't understand until they go.

Ok. I may have gone a little over the line by saying it blows T-Town out of the water.

I've been to both and they are both great atmospheres. I still prefer Oxford, though. I still say the 2003 LSU-Ole Miss game was my favorite game I have ever attended in person. Electric old-school feel atmosphere.

That doesnt really happen unless you go to the hoodrat areas of tailgating and even though you have to provoke it.

eta: the drink dousing part i mean.
