I don't understand the knock on Brian Kelly, or saying that the ND's schedule isn't tough.

They play a legit schedule every year.

Brian Kelly has gone undefeated twice in the regular season.

Outside of playing Michigan, USC, and Stanford every year, they play 9 or 10 P5 teams every year. There are maybe a few programs that would be able to go through undefeated, and they have done it twice.

If we are talking this year so far:

Chip Kelly
Scott Frost
Chris Peterson
Jimbo Fisher
Matt Campbell

Ferentz was already one of the highest paid coaches several years ago.

With the Pac Ten what it is, Washington should be dominating that conference

No. They're too dependent upon recruiting CA. Now of course USC is a dump right now, but it's still USC, so the elite CA kids still will usually go there. And Oregon is closer to CA than Washington. UW isn't going to consistently get enough high level kids to DOMINATE the Pac 12.

Turned out pretty weak last year.

Georgia Football Schedule .500 Teams P5 and bowl teams

USCe 7-6 W
Mizzou 8-5 W
Vanderbilt 6-7
LSU 10-3 L
Florida 10-3
Kentucky 10-3
Auburn 8-5
Georgia Tech 7-6

5-7 Tennessee

SEC Champ Bama 14-1 L
Texas 10-4 L

ND Football Schedule .500 Teams P5 and bowl teams

Michigan 10-3
Vanderbilt 6-7
Wake Forest 7-6
Stanford 9-4
Virginia Tech 6-7
Pittsburgh 7-7
Northwestern 9-5
Syracuse 10-3

Clemson 15-0 L

5-7 USC, 5-7 Florida St

By comparison, its pretty similar. I would say that Georgia's was slightly more difficult overall. I definitely wouldn't say weak though.

Harbaugh is about as good as most think. Michigan isn't the Michigan of Fielding Yost's time and UM is going to become irrelevant - Harbaugh is doing about as well as anybody there is going to do.

Kelly is overachieving at ND.

Leach is a drama queen.

Hard school to recruit at modern day

There was a graphic posted here, I think, last week that showed ND has plenty of 4 and 5 star players to compete against the top teams.

WSU had some success under Mike Price. It’s not a Vandy type program

I'm not sure that there are many P5 jobs much tougher than Wash St. Pullman WA is a lot more remote and isolated than most people realize.

The one caveat would be that Wash St does seem to care about their football program.

Mike Price, though, had just over a .500 record and won the conference 2 times in around 15 seasons there and that was considered impressive enough for Alabama to hire him.

That's my #1. All mouth, no results.

Fisher is my #2. Without a Heisman-worthy QB, he is pedestrian. aTm wasted a lot of money, similar to AU.

Mullen is my #3 with a caveat: Can he get it done this week? If so, he'll not be so high on my list.

Malzahn is my #4 for obvious reasons...namely that big contract for 4 losses a year since 2013.

Both Kellys are my #5, because both should be doing better than they are.

Brian Kelly isn't overrated at all. He took a yo-yoing Notre Dame that hadn't been consistently good in 20 years and has them winning 10 games every season.

He isn't "elite" but he's a dang good football coach.

For the regular season, that’s 4 top 12 teams for uga vs 1 for notre dame. That’s a big difference.

I find Brian Kelly at Notre Dame to be overrated. Also Mike Leach at Washington State.

IDK if Willie Taggart is exactly overrated, but some people don’t recognize how bad he is.

Do you live in Florida and on the panhandle? If so, you might not know that none of us think these things are true.

I don't like Brian Kelly tbh but dude has been the only coach at ND in some time to have them winning games somewhat consistently (yes, even against a shitty ACC schedule). ND as an institution is overrated by the media -- that has never been in doubt but Brian Kelly? I'd say for what he does, he's doing ok.

And nobody thinks that Willie Taggart is overrated. He's who we all thought he was. He ain't fooling nobody.

And Mike Leach? Well, he's just Mike Leach. He's where he needs to be and doing as well as he can do. Too bad Tennessee didn't bring him in. Would be worth the entertainment.
