When the LHN started with the plans to broadcast high school games, A&M called bullshite, had had enough, and called the SEC back.

All they had to do was simply call it the Lone Star network where they show UT A&M and other Tx college games along with HS FB.

That makes too much sense though and UT is greedy.

This is exactly what we proposed to A&M a couple years earlier. They said no. We also proposed a Big 12 network. Also rejected.

What else were we gonna do?

Let's not pretend this is unique among LSU fans. Turnpike is nothing special.

And a better comparison is probably Oklahoma being Dale Doback and Texas being Derek Huff.

The secret was that the LHN was going to air selected Texas HS FB games to highlight Texas football commits. It was designed to be an unfair recruiting advantage. The head of the network let that slip in an interview prior to its launch. So once that got out, the heat came, and they had to bag the idea.

So no, renaming it was not that simple when there was more going on behind the scenes.

Nah, that ain’t it. How about not trying to create an unfair recruiting advantage using the broadcast of UIL games on the LHN?

Too much covert ops to be trusted with anything.

If we had already proposed a Lone Star Network and a Big 12 network, only to be rejected both times, why wouldn't we go it alone and use every advantage we have?

Wrong. We turned down their "junior membership" offer.

Why would Texas A&M want to go to the B1G when the SEC is the better conference for Texas A&M.

Never heard of Texas proposing a Big 12 network. Pretty sure that's revisionist history.

Texas did propose a Lonestar Network in partnership with A&M. Revenues were to be split 2/3 to Texas, 1/3 to A&M.

A&M told them to frick off.

Imagine being scared to hop from the big12 with a sub par football partner to the sec in 2010 (not even in the 90s) and blame it on your sub par partner.

As if anyone ties Arky to USCe.

OU was scared to come to the superior conference even if they would get rich doing it.

They will say they got offered a junior membership and turned it down. Eta….oh boy. They already went there.

But that’s not really being offered an invite.

It’s like telling everyone you went all the way when they knew you only got a handy.

That’s nonsense, Oklahoma made it very clear that they were willing to go to the pac12 with texas. Unfortunately, Texas did not get an invite to go to the Pac 12.l

A&M was too poor to front the startup costs. Deloss very reasonably said we’ll front 100% of the costs but we’ll take a bigger piece of the pie in that case. A&M balked. So we did things on our own.

I mean, you can try. But it was definitely an idea for breaking the rules, and it was being kept under wraps…
