More like this without the bad makeup and hair but with a much bitchier look on her face and turned up nose.

What's funny is that Grovewater, the OP, is a longwhorn fan.

Isn't that what they said about Texas and A&M?
Whoever said that was dumb. A&Ms problem wasn't Texas it was Baylor and Texas Tech. Texas took full custodial rights of them so we could leave.

New SEC Divisions:
WEST
Ole Miss
Mississippi State
LSU
Arkansas
Missouri
Texas A&M
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
EAST
Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
Tennessee
Kentucky
Vanderbilt
South Carolina
Every team plays 7 divisional games, plus 2 rotating cross-divisional games.
I think it would be fine to do away with cross-divisional rivalries now that Georgia-Auburn and Tennessee-Alabama would be protected.
Let's face it, LSU-Alabama has only become a big rivalry in recent years. And LSU-Florida always seemed unimportant to both fan bases relative to their other rivalries.
Auburn-Mississippi State and Alabama-Mississippi State would be two other long-standing rivalries that would be lost, but I don't see a great loss to the conference by not playing those games.
By playing 2 rotating, cross-divisional games per year, every school would play a home-and-home with every team in the opposite division once every 8 years. I think that's enough.
SEC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
Rotate it every-other year between Atlanta and Arlington.

you had me until Arlington.
the moment we move the SEC Champ from Atlanta for a year, the ACC will come in and set up stakes.
the SEC championship is perfect as it is and will get better with the new stadium(in spite of anus roof). it is also in Downtown atlanta with easy public transit. atalnta is easy to fly into.
your poor alumni will drive 2000 miles to get to the game. Your rich alumni will fly to the game no matter what. it makes no difference.
stay away from Arlington. nice stadium but not that great of an experience.
would alos like to keep that stadium avaiable to the Big 12 as a carrot to that conferences ineptitude.

Lots of notes.
Oklahoma and Oklahoma St are somewhat tied, but if the state sees that the Big 12 is falling apart, they will prioritize OU first and foremost. They are not tied to Texas in any way.
OU is a national brand in both football, and in basketball. That is incredibly valuable, in terms of getting actual eyeballs (and then selling ad space for much more) New state, with more TV's. They have decent academics, not AAU, but certainly not bad. Mizzou does have a "trophy" with OU, the Sooner Peace Pipe was a gift from an Indian that used to be passed to the winner.
OSU, so far as little brothers go, aren't that bad. They have solid athletics considering everything. Academics aren't good, but better than some in the conference.
A&M are just worried that they will get spanked back to whipping boys like they used to be. Both OU and OSU have big whig donors who can cover the GOR. Word is that T Boone has left 50% of his money to OSU when he dies(He is 87), and he has already given them $500mil. But both have the donors who make money a non-issue.
Also, there will not be pods with 16. There will still be divisions. If its 2 from the west (Oklahoma, Okie St, Texas, or Kansas), I bet they switch Missouri West, Alabama and Auburn East, and do away with permanent cross division games, instead going to 9 conference games and just rotating 2 cross division teams each year. Would play each team once every 4 years. 2-2-2-2, which is better than we have now. All the rivalries would be retained.
OU likely won't be invited to the B1G. Their academics just aren't at a high enough level. They did just schedule another home-home with Nebraska too, signifying that they likely don't see themselves joining.

If they did that the sec wouldn't even be the sec anymore, might as well rename it

Seeing some of theses post Sankey might as well put a damn ad in the paper if we're going to take in everybody that gets pissed at their conference. Would like to see two of either UVa, VT, NCSU, UNC though.

Schools like Texas A&M know how the pecking order would turn into if OU joined the SEC. They can't even beat LSU and Bama. Add OU to the mix and they'll be even more mediocre than they were in the Big 12.
OU would get reality checked hard in the SEC.
You've always been in a league where you were #1 or #2. An example is that you are big shite in the Big12 with an 80k seat football stadium. In the SEC, that's 8th place.

UNC and Duke better than OU and whoever

We added a team that is geographically west of Tulsa and one that is north of St. Louis. That ship sailed a few years back, buddy.

You clearly really like OU and hate Texas A&M. But that doesn't change the facts. OU isn't going to join the SEC. Ever. Get over it.

UNC is not leaving Duke, I wouldn't mind NCSU though. Opens up the North Carolina market.

Unless they do.
Look at it this way. Texas has done a bang up job of destroying yet another conference thanks to arrogance and greed. I would think they are eventually headed to the PAC.
I am not at all sure Oklahoma would follow them given what how Texas is a cancer to a conference. The question then becomes, where would they go?

Are these talks actually heating up or is this just typical offseason BS?
Also: Texas should just go Independent. They can be the Notre Dame of the south everyone hates.
