Possibly Clemson will be a scheduling change.

Why cancel uga in 2023. Just move it to a neutral site if possible.
HELL NO!
We already deal with that $#!+ in Jax.!

According to Pete Thamel about 20 minutes ago:
quote:
The SEC has directed Georgia and Tennessee to not play their home-and-home non-conference series against Oklahoma. The Bulldogs had OU scheduled in '23 and '31. The Vols’ 2020 game in Norman was cancelled amid COVID and was expected to be made up down the line.

You need to account for Oklahoma State. They can play that OOC game yearly and schedule a big OOC game once every few years and get away with it like South Carolina Kentucky And Georgia do.

Looks like OU has replaced the UGA series with SMU. That's the kind of thing I was afraid of. Big step down.
I had zero clue that any of this was going to break today when I started the thread yesterday. Lucky timing.

Tough OOC regular season games might soon be a memory because there is no good reason to schedule them anymore.
I think it's gonna go in the opposite direction actually. I don't think you'll be seeing FBS-FCS matchups much longer.

Might want to check in with SadUCFKnight... they're always begging to play SEC teams.

Heh, true....though I'm not sure we'll be wanting to schedule incoming Big 12 schools.

I would like OU to keep playing them until we at least get win 100. It won't take long.

OU not playing bedlam after we leave and OU will not be scheduling many good teams ooc . The schedule at 9 games vs sec teams will kill the depth of most teams so why push out luck . I could see once every 3 years scheduling someone good.

Listening to a OKC radio station and they confirmed OU playing SMU next year.

Be prepared for all the threads years from now making fun of OU for playing away to SMU because of this very reason.

Also looks like UGA has scheduled Ball State to replace OU. That has to be disappointing.

Yeah, it was a chickenshit move by the SEC... They should have given the schools the option, unless Georgia was lobbying the SEC.

A season without a big OOC game sucks.
Keep OSU and maybe Baylor, or Texas Tech.
Problem solved.

That’s too bad. Kind of like FCS football and not sure it lasts without the payday. I see participation going down in football overall…. JUCO, D3, D2, FCS. Not sure that’s good for the sport at the top long term.
