As I understand it, if you stayed through the 2024-25 academic year you could leave the B12 without any obligations. Is that correct?? If so, $100M seems like a steep price to pay to exit one year earlier. I am sure Tx and Ok had good counsel regarding this matter. I would like to be able to understand the numbers better.

No that’s not correct it’s 50 mil each school and regardless OU and Texas were going to have to pay something but like I said in my first post it wasn’t about the money … OU and Texas are not actually paying anyone anything out of pocket up front . They are repaying the money thru the 2024 season tv rightswhich fox and espn still has to pay the conference and it goes to remainder 8 original members only .

For those of your talking shite about OU and Texas based off last years results something to ponder … last year was OU worst team in 25 years and we still made a bowl game and lost to FSU lasts second on a field goal .

Texas and OU have the played and beaten all your top teams and lost close in others .
OU beat Bama in 2014 and lost by 11 in the playoff. UGA beat OU by a blocked field goal on double overtime
Texas beat UGA like 4 years ago and lost a close one to Bama… these are your top 2 teams usually. You know deep down what you’re saying is false and while it’s going to be harder in the sec those lower teams are not consistently going to be beating us. Look at recruiting OU and Texas finished 3-4 …. We are not going to recruit less now that we have joined the sec it’s only going to get better .
Just remember what you said Mississippi state , Arky fans, and of course A@M . The games will be here before you know it and I remember everything !

It's fun that Texas fans are talking a lot. This will make it fun when they realize this ain't the Big 12 anymore

So if I understand this correctly, y'all are basically playing next year for free.

Possibly but OU may actually make more in the sec so I don’t know for sure .

Like your bravado Humpy. No matter what happens the next 100 years, Texas and OU will make mucho dinero. Not like you need more money but it will help. Competition wise you will be ok. I fully expect the horns to win the SEC within 5 years. You will enjoy Saturdays in the fall way more now that your part of the clan. WELCOME! Mi amigo.

Here’s what I’d like to see - OU, Texas, Mizzou, A&M all have a top half run over the next decade. The absolute devastation it will bring to the SEC delusion that this is some kind of NFL jr league will be glorious.

The SEC is the best, but it is not what you all have pretended to make it out to be.

Well... sort of, yes. We obviously keep our home gate proceeds, money from marketing deals and apparel - that kind of thing. Our Tier III media deals are separate from all of this as well I do believe. Also we do have a rather nice little athletics trust fund/endowment built up over the years from donors and the fact that the our athletic department has been one of the few that's actually been consistently profitable over the last 25 years (I believe that in reality a lot more athletic departments are more 'profitable' than what they put on paper, but that's a whoooooole other discussion). The 'free' part comes in from our Tier I/II broadcast rights revenue which will go entirely to the remaining eight Big XII teams next year, and partly to Fox our first year in the SEC. I think we lose a chunk of the remaining conference payout this year as well.

I'm not sure yet, and this might be behind-the-scenes, or not even part the deal at all, but I'm guessing we may have to schedule a Big Ten team at some point in the next few years in our away OOC? Obviously UT had to do something along these lines already. Uncertain if that covers it for both of us or not.

Thanks! We’re all looking forward to the SEC. I think Sark has been building a solid roster and this move will make us better. Plus better home games and road trips for the fans. I live in Charlotte so this actually brings at least 7 road games within a 7 hour drive. Can’t wait.

Conference game Saturdays are going to be even better with these two involved. Really fun.

No, it has to be against SCAR. Believe me, you'll know when it happens.

Nothing inexplicable about that loss to SC. Cats suck this year, and are currently losing big to Georgia!

We already took care of that by dropping a Sunday double-header against them last baseball season

Great atmosphere, though. Nothing but respect for South Carolina baseball fans. They were a great time in Austin in 2021
