Problem is Miami needs help to even make the ACC championship game. So, they will be another team with 2 losses vying for an at large.

GT going to ACC CG. Win that and the UGA game doesn't matter.

How many spots would the SEC need for the Gators to make it?

Probably a field of 64 would get them on the bubble.

It does not have to be a conference champ. It’s highest ranked teams in 5 different conference.

The selection criteria requires that five conference champs be included in the field of 12. The only thing that’s changed is that the bye games don’t automatically go to conf champs.

I don’t know, you think I’m a Gator fan. My daughter is a Freshman there this year so I’m sporting a Gators tag for her this season. I mean, I do want them to win but they are not my number one team.

Who knew teams you support had to be winning to be knowledgeable about football. LOL

OK
I thought they had changed the rule. That’s not good news for Miami.

"Vandy should have beat Texas. If they were 11-1 they could get in but they did not. It sucks they will go 10-2 and be left out.

Vandy will be cheering for Mizzou this weekend big time!"

You're assuming Vandy is going to beat Tennessee in Knoxville. I don't think that's going to happen.

I asked a simple question. Trolling rival fan bases is always allowed especially when they are as mouthy as the Gators

They probably lose at Pitt. It will be cold.

It's why going to 9 games is a dumb idea. We should have stayed at 8 and proposed a challenge series with these other conferences to settle conference superiority.

Sankey got played. As it stands now we'll cannibalize each other and be marginalized.

That said, SEC games are must see TV. It's the best weekly CFB action I can ever remember. Better than the NFL.

Like them to try and leave a sec school who had the most wins vs top 25 out of the playoff . OU and Bama are tied with 4 ranked wins . If they value wins vs ranked teams both schools should be safely in .

Texas tech deserves a spot. If you want in conference to be guaranteed five teams you're going to need a bigger tournament

This is what I got right now.

1. Ohio State (Big 10 Champ)

2. Indiana (at large)

3. Texas A&M (SEC Champ)

4. Georgia (at large)

5. Texas Tech (Big 12 Champ)

6. Ole Miss (at large)

7. Oregon (at large)

8. Notre Dame (at large)

9. Oklahoma (at large)

10. Alabama (at large)

11. Georgia Tech (ACC Champ)*

12. JMU (Group of 5 Champ)*

* means auto bid

9 game conference season is going to be the death of the SEC.

Aggies are walking between raindrops this season. You cannot relate. Aggies avoid: Ole Miss, Bama, and UGA. What if you had to play all 3? You didn’t even have to play the best Vandy team of all time. Your schedule is perfection, but it’s a fluke as to all of those teams sucking this year.

When all of our best teams play each other we lose playoff spots. This committee would have aTm out of the playoffs with 3 losses to top-5 teams.
OK.

And the SEC is not going to die because the fifth-best team in the conference does not qualify for the 12-team playoff, when the SEC represents only about TEN percent of the FBS.

The only thing that happens is that the fifth-best team in the conference has something to whine about for nine months

Last week they were 73% chance of getting in at 10-2, I wonder what it will be this week

One thing is clear- the #5 and #6 seeds will have much easier first round games than the #7 and #8 seeds.

Bama stays at home even though they finished top 2 in the conference

This scenario excites the LSU fans in the thread. Alabama loses at Auburn, they are out.
Alabama wins remaining regular season games but loses SECG, they are out.
Maybe so but how do you punish a team for losing their conference championship?
Remember TCU over Bama a few years ago?
If Bama loses to A&M in a hard fought game, they are in.

This is dumb take. Going to 9 conference games had to happen. The playoff will be expanded, and SOS will become more of a factor.
