They used to play a home and home series... I THINK they played every other year, but it was home and home.

I was at that game. That was a classic Cutcliffe blunder. Tennessee fans were doing the usual barking bullshite the entire day. Memphis came out on fire. They really put it all into that game. Cutcliffe's offense was shut down and he never adjusted. That UT team was so stacked in talent that Memphis really should have had no chance. But the UT fans were such assholes that when the goal posts came down, the Memphis students took a long piece to the UT crowd and threw it at them. It was glorious.

Wasn't Memphis supposed to jump in the P4 a year ago?

Yeah, that was amazing. Only loss Manning suffered VS an unranked team.
Should've never happened.

You talking about the leftover PAC? Tulane and Memphis told them "no." Their justification was that the PAC is now no better than the American and they will make more money in the AAC.

Bob Carpenter and Kevin Kiley tell y'all about it - the pre-3 Daves era of JP Sports -
a 1-4 Arkansas and interim HC Joe Kines take down a then 5-0 undfeated #4 Tennessee and Johnny Majors - Vols had won at #14 UGA and beat #4 Florida prior to the Hogs coming to Knoxville and ruining UTK's perfect season -

The funny part about ULM and UAB is they both happened to Saban. Josh Booty was the QB for LSU. Who was the QB for Alabama? Wilson or Croyle? BTW, that’s a travel ball name if I’ve ever heard of one. “Brodie”

We lost to the Citadel that same season and that is why Kines was the interim.

I think Memphis may be UTs most commonly played OOC opponent.
