He did star in a bunch of movies in the 90s, but definitely hasn't been anywhere near a big star in decades.

I didn't know he was a rapper. I know he is one of the biggest stars in the world with hits like Friday, Barbershop, Jump Street, for producing and writing Straight Outta Compton, and several other high profile endeavors.
In the video, he says he has been an Alabama fan since he was a kid.
Growing up in LA and a diehard Bama fan! Alabama has always been America's team.

He created Straight Outta Compton in 2015 and Hip Hop Squares in 2018. His production company produced Friday: The Animated Series in 2007.
He starred in Ride Along in 2014-2016, and Are We There Yet and Are We Done Yet which were also aired in the 2000's.
If you look at it objectively, and not just through a jealousy tinted perspective since he isn't a fan of Georgia, you could admit he is one of the biggest stars in the world.

That's your opinion. He's definitely in the Top 20 of biggest stars in the world and most would consider that echelon of star to be one of the most famous and biggest.
Now, from CaptDalton, I find out he was also a brilliant musician who wrote many songs and produced many albums that are the bedrock of American music.
That ups he credibility even more.
