No,the game I'm referencing was Alabama's first televised game at Bryant-Denny. The 1968 Alabama-Miami game was at the Orange Bowl in Miami. And of course Alabama had a jillion televised games at Legion Field.
This was the first televised game at Denny Stadium.
My Brother-in-Law and I were at his neighbor's house watching the 1968 Bama-Miami game. During the game one of them asked what big pro games were on the next day. I immediately said Oakland and the Jets and was nearly laughed out of the house. They were both NFL fans and didn't consider the AFL as a pro league.
I got the last laugh. The following day, 11/17/1968, the Oakland Raiders and the New York Jets played the most famous regular season game in the history of PROFESSIONAL football. The "Hedi" game. I was still laughing when the Jets beat the Colts in the Super Bowl at the end of the season!

My old man told me about that. He said he was with a group of people watching that game at a bar, and suddenly everybody was both drunk and pissed.

frick that Alabama team . Who wins a game 3-0 ? USC cheated that year too . All shortly before LSU murdered The Bear in 1982. Sorry about that . And frick that little Major Ogilvie prick . Who brings a kid into the world and calls him Major Ogilvie? What kind of redneck shite is that ?

I was 1 year and 2 months old when the Heidi game happened. I was also pissed.

Interesting....I would have thought there would have been one earlier than that....but all the big games were played at Legion in those days.

Did the game last 4 and a half hours and have a number of unnecessary time-outs?

Bryan Dennehy was really hitting his stride as an actor in 1979 with “ 10” so it makes sense that this happened.

Earlier that day in Athens, Auburn did Alabama a big favor by beating Georgia, 33-13. Georgia was 5-0 (SEC didn't go to 7 conference games until 1988)in the SEC --and 5-4 overall and had they beaten Auburn they would have clinched at least a share of the SEC title and would have gotten the Sugar Bowl berth based on the Sugar's and SEC's "no-repeat rule" which was amazingly not corrected after 1978. Had Georgia beaten Auburn in 1978 instead of tying them, there would have been no "Goal line stand" vs Penn State.
Had Georgia beaten Auburn, or had Auburn beaten Alabama two weeks later, supposedly Alabama would have gone to the Fiesta Bowl, which was still on par with Liberty,Gator, etc.

I attended that game with my brother.
Bama was so good back then that 30-0 was kind of pedestrian.

30-0 win over Miami in Howard Schnellenberger's first year. In a sign of the times, it was Alabama's ONLY televised game during the regular season.
I was at that game with my father and grandfather. It was my first Alabama game in Tuscaloosa.

Georgia Tech in Atlanta was indeed on TV. Tennessee wasn't. But right on course for you to show up being negative.
The Third Saturday in October was on ESPN that year. Dont get made at me for pointing out you were wrong

ESPN didn't start showing games live until 1984.
