Sounds like the Teach for America thing.

It would likely be at a public school in Jackson or in the Delta.

Just looked that up. The public schools in north Mississippi (excluding the Delta) and the coast aren't bad.

Good news is, if you can teach public school in Greenwood or Cleveland for 5 years you can teach anywhere.

Yeah.

Has nothing to do with SEC football unless she playing and no need to clog this place.

It doesn’t matter if her test scores or grades were not high. No lower level employee of any university on a college night event should ever tell an interested student she should not apply. I can promise you Auburn’s president would be furious to find that out.

After attending several games in Oxford, I told my daughter she could never go to school there.

Also, they said they may have a scholarship where they will cover the cost if she will teach for 5 years in Mississippi.

Here's a very important question:

Is she free to pursue any teaching jobs in MS, or will they assign her to a school?

Why?

I've been to Oxford several times and I'd be okay with my daughter attending Ole Miss.

Never been to Fayetteville, but I'd be cool with her going there too.

I'm with ya on this.

Some chick with a 16 ACT score and a 2.2 HS GPA wants to apply? Thanks for the $50. That'll cover the stamp, envelope, and form letter saying "We're sorry to inform you...".

I’ll be honest, I work in education and I don’t think many schools care where you got your education degree from. As long as you have your certification and your degree you are going to find a job.

There’s too big of a need for teacher’s for schools to be picky over what school they got their education degree from.

Years ago, my son went to look at AU.

I told them, “he does not have the GPA or test scores that you require.”

They said, “apply to AUM. We have a program where he will take classes from AUM on the Auburn campus. We can transfer him into Auburn after first semester.”

I have no idea if they still do this, but this is what we were told then.
