What is a slap on the wrist?

What happens tmw doesn't matter. The damage has already been done.

This.
This has to be the worst year to be looking for a head coach in several years.

5 scholarship reduction for 2018 and 2019, one year additional bowl ban after 2018 season,

Whatever the outcome is tomorrow, I will be sure to completely blow the penalties out of proportion and declare the death of Ole Miss football. I'm ready.

I sort of agree, however additional scholarship reductions do matter - morseo than another bowl ban.
Scholarship reductions have multi-year residual impacts. Ole Miss can't compete for titles under said reductions.

I'm hearing from reliable sources I have they're getting the death penalty. It's why they stuck with Matt Luke. No coach would touch it

If we had the death penalty we wouldn't need a coach

Just out of curiosity, if they are indeed getting the death penalty, and that is why they stuck with Matt Luke, as your "reliable sources" have indicated, why do they need a head coach at all?
I mean, since they stuck with Matt Luke because they were getting the death penalty, that means they already knew what was going to happen, right? So, if they knew there were getting the death penalty, why would they remove the interim tag? Why not just leave it on him until they got the death penalty, then let him go?

Well this is going to deflate my weekend.

The timing of the Luke hire makes it look like they know the hammer is coming.
I dont think Ole Miss has any idea what the sanctions will be, but by keeping Luke,
1. they keep the players and recruits happy
2. Have a huge staff budget, for the coaches that will actually run the team
3. Have a feel of consistency compared with State
4. Can hopefully pull some of the big mississippi 2019 class which is significantly better than the 2018 class (1 five star and 9 four stars vs 1 four star)

The death penalty in my opinion would be two more years of bowl bans 35-40 scollies over 3 years and allowing current players to transfer unpenalized.
It would be 8 years before Ole Miss has a winning record.

One more year of a bowl ban = players can and will transfer.
25-30 scolly reduction over 5 years. At 5 years they would have 60 or 55 players on scolly.
This is the death penalty.
You can only sign 25 players at a time. It will take years to get back to 85.
