I thought they gave them to the school 24 hours prior to releasing them to the public.

They give them the notice that they're coming 24 hours prior.

I think Luke gets hired even if Ole Miss loses that game. He's a placeholder for the sanctions.

Nah...I don't see that as a possibility. That would have been the final nail in Bjork's coffin. We could have hired some coordinator to come in and be a fall guy for the next few seasons and it wouldn't look as bad on Bjork.

Not many OM fans thought we could have gotten to 6 wins this season after losing Freeze and both coordinators to go along with our shitty defense. He was able to do a pretty remarkable job keeping the team together and finished the season fairly strong.

We interrupt the Tennessee coaching search to release the Ole Miss findings .

The timing of the Luke hire makes it look like they know the hammer is coming. They could have waited, but they chose not to for some reason.

Now, if OM thinks the sanctions are light, Ole Miss essentially believes Matt Luke is a better coach than Doeren/Strong/Morris, etc. That to me, is a fireable offense for believing that.

It is basically Coach O PowerPoint sales job all over again.

Yeah, I doubt OM was giving the same benefits to random students on campus...

Why are you bothering to raise factual points?

This is tRant. Emotions, not facts, are what decisions are based on here.

I agree.

But I really don't think that's the reason why we pulled the trigger on Luke as early as we did. Luke was not a legitimate contender for the job until Mullen got fired. It was pretty much known that his interview, at the time, was just a formality.

If we were going to just settle with Luke, then we would have announced Friday while everyone is still high from the Egg Bowl victory.

Mullen was hired by UF on the morning of the 26th.
Matt Luke was announced that evening and was out recruiting the following morning.

Or... Phil Fulmer called the NCAA and asked them if there was anything at all they could do to get the attention off of UT... NCAA said "Sure, we got just the thing".

If you end up getting hammered by the NCAA, there is probably no better hire than Luke. As an alum, he will bust his arse for the program. If he works out, great and he won't bail. If he doesn't, you can move on after sanctions without dealing with buyouts and such.

AJ all in on Ole Miss and isn't going anywhere. Didn't you see that big hug he gave Luke at his HC intro?

Could be highly relevant to the UT search. No show cause for Freeze and UT extends offer to him immediately.

Absolutely. Worst case for him....he busts his arse for his next job somewhere else. He's got an inherent excuse of "the school was under serious sanctions in an incredibly tough division".

The way I understand the timeline:

- NCAA gives Ole Miss 24 hour notice of release of sanctions (today)
- NCAA will give Ole Miss the sanctions 2 hours before making the sanctions public (tomorrow)
- NCAA releases sanctions to public

So no, Ole Miss doesn't have the sanctions yet.
