It's an interesting strategy. I mean, if you're actually trying to motivate former players you're about to play to go all out to destroy you - sure. Sue them the week of the game.
It's not very smart but remember who you're dealing with. Ole Miss is very obviously a Junior SEC program. It's like the G-league for the higher tier SEC programs. I can understand being frustrated.

Wrong. The first thing Golding asked him was whether he had a contract and/or buyout. He didn’t. That made him fair game. Dabo dropped the ball by only giving him a scholarship (which doesn’t bind the kid), not signing him to a binding contract.
By contrast, PW and Harper did sign binding contracts with ole miss, that obligated them to repay their buyouts. Just like the Washington QB that Lane tried to tamper into the portal, until the kid realized he’d be on the hook for the buyout.

Actually, this thing is gonna backfire on LSU.
Those players knew for certain that they’d be on the hook for the buyouts if they breached their contracts. Buyouts are customarily paid by the school who is getting a player (or coach) who has a buyout payable to the school he’s leaving. There’s no way those players and their agents would have left OM without a commitment from LSU to cover the buyouts. (Just like LSU covered Kiffin’s buyout to OM).
So the question is gonna be asked, why is LSU leaving its players on the hook instead of covering the buyouts that everyone knew they’d be called on to pay?

Every team (not just LSU) will be using this ammo against Ole Miss.
Sure Ole Miss can point that LSU is the ‘reason’… but how do you offset every other school using it as negative recruiting?
