What is now known simply as DKR, Texas Memorial Stadium during a ZZ-Top concert in’74.
This is how I remember the stadium from my childhood.

I’m guessing it was relevant to General Neyland’s long term expansion design. He designed most of the work done on the stadium up to the mid 90’s.

The cool thing about that picture is that you can see the old Billy goat hill at Clark Field (baseball) in the background. I still can’t believe that the horns got away with having a cliff in play for all those years.

Alabama has never claimed a National Championship; we have always been given a Championship by various news services.
Not true.
Every title claimed prior to 1936 is a retroactively claimed title. Bama also claims 1941 which was awarded by no service at the time and wasn’t claimed until the late 1980s.

Sanford from the railroad tracks. You can almost smell the weed and BO.
The entrance to Tanyard Creek that flows under the stadium.
How the lower stands fit into the valley.

What's the story on the little appendage on the edge of the West stands at Neyland?
That angle makes it look like it's connected, but it isn't. That is the backside of Circle Park.

I was looking at the old pictures, where there is a little pint sized stand appended on to the west side (but not the east) of the old horseshoe.

I guess I’m an old soul at heart. These old stadiums make me think it was a better time. Cheap seats, able to see a game from a nearby hill, and the game wasn’t over commercialized.

Top picture is pre-1980, which I believe was the first year the south endzone area had permanent seating. That 1980 construction replaced by the current section completed few years back. Getting old; sat in the temporary bleachers time or two in high school, in the now replaced south endzone seats in college but moved up to 38 yard line seats 30 rows up for last 25 plus years lol.

State Field on the old campus of LSU in Downtown BR. Now a garden next to the Pentagon Barracks in the shadow of the State Capitol building.
Right after renovation that added dorm rooms on the backside of stands, thanks to Huey Long.
We’ve all come a long way, to say the least.

This thread should've been saved for the off-season.
Well shoot, I guess it is our off-season.
It still needs some Mississippi Memorial Stadium views. A lot of SEC football was once played there.

That's when they ruined the Mustang, but I have to say, that's not too terrible looking.
