They 100% will try to do all these things. A&M is so triggered, they're even trying to pull these stunts with the threat of Texas joining. I'd rather have neither. Beyond that, I don't see anything Texas can bring the SEC which we don't already have/couldn't get by expanding elsewhere. Do not want.

All this talk just really makes a person think that the big baddie is ESPN. The Aggies are telling us ESPN is just using Texas as a puppet to control the rest of the teams here.
Truth is ESPN is gonna do what makes THEM money. The SEC is likely to fail at some point. The whole subject of college sports as we have known it is going to fail. NIL has changed it. Transfer portal has changed it. Fans wanted playoffs forever, then wanted all games on tv, then wanted...
All empires grow until they collapse on their own weight.
We have met the enemy an they is us. And Genies don't like to go back in bottles.

Exactly. Choosing long term expansion for single media contracts has always been a mistake, and I say that as a fan of a team that benefitted from it.

Texas bullied the Big 12 because the entire conference's existence relied on their membership. They were the flagship, premier name in the only recruiting base for the whole conference. And most of the remaining conference members were in flyover states and knew they had few options if the Big 12 collapsed. None of those conditions exist in the SEC. Bullies only exist in a power vacuum.
Exactly, and the reaction of the SEC schools, top to bottom, to allegations of Texas coming here to ruin things is very telling. Texas will never have the ability to ride roughshod over the SEC because it is not the power broker in the SEC...and it never will be.
It will be 1/16th of the conference just like Vanderbilt, and if Texas tries anything funny, the rest of the SEC schools will remind Texas, just like we are reminding Aggy now: if you don't like something, you can leave and we'll even hold the door for you.
The biggest winnner here just might be OU. In the SEC, they won't have to appease UT at every critical juncture. They will really be able to vote and lookout for their own self interest within the conference.

OU’s recent success has been built on rolling through the shitty Big 12, winning it, and making the playoff. Can they maintain that playing an SEC schedule?

Do you think Texas can out corrupt Alabama? Because I don’t.

Easy to understand. Mizzou can be entirely forgettable.

They will annoy one to death. You have only seen the merest hint of how annoying they will be.
Over on Surlyhorns: "How long before the SEC asks us to take over and run the conference for them?"

Alabama already does that, its not going to happen with Texas. As a matter of fact, I bet gump going to come down hard on horns if they try something stupid like that...
This. Seems a lot of people don't understand how the SEC has been run for many decades, and how Alabama does a lot of the same. However, Alabama will draw a line in not sabotaging the conference, and they don't go for total blood (e.g. SMU death penalty). I would pull for Alabama or A&M over Texas... and believe me, that says a lot.
