That’s not how it works.

Texas works by getting Texas alums or puppets into positions of power and then working to benefit just Texas.

They didn’t buy off the NCAA infractions committee, they leveraged connections to get an alum installed as head of the committee, then went to work on rivals.

They didn’t just throw their weight around the B12, they installed their own sycophants as the commissioner and positions of power, and then played stupid when the conference organization bent the field to their benefit.

This. They don't go for the frontal assault unless they know they've already won. Everything else is the long game with them, backroom deal, alliances, partnerships. They're exceptionally good at lobbying for conference rule changes that benefit everyone... except in the long run, they benefit more than anyone.

You should probably just keep doing what Texas tells you to do.

Texas is having to choke down some humble pie even broaching the SEC for entrance. They're having to admit that their selfishness ruined their conference, drove teams away and that their Longhorn network is a piece of shite.

They'll come in and abide by the rules of the SEC or they'll tuck tail and run off.

lol, do you actually believe that?

The sips I know are on the fence about the move because they think the SEC is a bunch of rednecks who are beneath them academically. They are trying to decide if they are worthy of basking in their glow since everyone wants them of course.

They own the Commissioner and ESPN. What does LSU or Bama own? Once they are admitted they will tell you how things will be. Of course they will do it in a subtle way at first but after a few years you will notice everything just seems to go their way. It was pathetic in the Big 12 watching how NU and OU getting rolled. NU resisted and Texas destroyed them piece by piece. OU sold out and became their gimp so they could get first stab at the scraps that Texas didn't want.

You can't comprehend how much it took for A&M to get away from Texas and join the SEC. Think of Auburn leaving for the ACC and times it by 100. How you guys want to just jump into bed with these guys and somehow think "We're the SEC, Texas better know their place!" and think that will work just shows how naive you are. They already are the richest and most powerful school in every category and that is with them sucking on the field and being stuck in the Big 12.

Oh, and you just screwed over A&M by doing this and are going to force us to have to renew our old alliance with Texas, at least for now. We can't trust any of you but at least we can bet on the winning horse and get our pound of flesh. The rest of you better have your own plan because Texas doesn't play by any rules you have seen before and at a bare minimum you just made them the most powerful school in the SEC overnight.

It is interesting that Texas has really not done very well athletically with all those advantages.

If Texas has all those advantages and still can not get out of its own way, good God they suck.

Edit to add- Let us say Texas does do all those things.
The one thing the SEC can do that no other conference can is a school can resign at anytime, and go elsewhere the next day. Texas tries, and the other 15 (OU included) just leave the next day and form the Southern Conference

Alabama already does that, its not going to happen with Texas. As a matter of fact, I bet gump going to come down hard on horns if they try something stupid like that...

this is what the fans on Texags dont get. Bottomline is when Bama, UGA, LSU, and Florida want something or are unified then it is happening or not happening.

those 4 have the most pull, but the big 6 will tell texas to go frick themselves in a heart beat.

got fans on texags saying they should team up with UT and OU to try and frick up everything.....go ahead dumbasses, kick all you stupid fricks to the curb in a heart beat.

you need us, we dont need you. This is not a fricking merger, this is not anything more than.....yea you can make us money so you can come play.

frick around with the REC or TAF and find out mother frickers. Back stab the REC and you will end up like Logan Young in a heart beat.

Florida, Georgia, LSU and Alabama would like a word with you.

If Texas could not do it with all their advantages in the Big12, how in the hell are they going to go against the SEC "redneck and good ole boy network"?

This is where you lose all credibility. The LHN deal was 10 years ago and has hemorrhaged money from day one. ESPN just outbid CBS by dropping $3 Billion over 10 yrs for the SEC. They would chew off their left arm to get out of the remaining 10 years of the LHN deal.

If Texas is so influential, why did ESPN recently turn down a chance to extend the Big 12 deal?

Texas bullied the Big 12 because the entire conference's existence relied on their membership. They were the flagship, premier name in the only recruiting base for the whole conference. And most of the remaining conference members were in flyover states and knew they had few options if the Big 12 collapsed. None of those conditions exist in the SEC. Bullies only exist in a power vacuum.

While this is true, the SuperDome is a shithole by comparison. It was a shithole compared to the old Georgia Dome.

They can try, and then they can leave. We don't need them at all. Even slightly. Adding them is mutually beneficial but we are obviously tGOAT without them.

Probably lost on them is that Oklahoma would be in the fold at that point, and the Sooners would not leave and help them renegotiate elsewhere. Once Oklahoma is in, they are home.

OU will go where Texas goes. Luckily Texas isn't reneging so this will all be moot.

In the Big 12 we had Kansas City and Dallas alternate the Big 12 championship game. Then it is only in Dallas. That was the starting point of control. and then more of other things down the road. It is what Texas do and ESPN supports Texas. That is why Texas in the SEC is going to try to break the SEC conference and make demands for change to favor Texas.
