His legacy is cemented in college football - he won the most prestigious trophy in the sport. That's free marketing for LSU that we've forfeited for a player who at best could win the Thorpe (all due respect, hope he does and would be a hell of an accomplishment). Can you name the past five, or even two, Thorpe winners? I can't...
Ok then let's give #9 to this year's QB recruit if he really wants it - what he MIGHT do is a lot more important than what someone DID do.
How the frick is this being down voted!? I underestimated the number of total fricking idiots on here. #5 should be retired, Jayden won the HEISMAN TROPHY and losers on here want to get on their knees for a cornerback who will hopefully be as good as Kevin Toliver II. Give me a fricking break.
When does the Will Wade obsession end? He's an above average coach, would probably consistently get us into the Sweet 16. I don't project LSU becoming a basketball school, so maybe that's good enough? I just don't understand the ceaseless pursuit of Will Wade.
Yes, but the two are completely different situations. Also, any LSU fan who hates Saban is a complete dolt.
Who do they need to make a statement for? TigerDCC11?

This thread is a cattle call for every loser on the board.

It may not be Freeman, but the "we won't take another Notre Dame coach right after taking Brian Kelly" take is beyond idiotic. Completely different situations.

So who pays for Scott Woodward's $6.47m?

Hope it's not the "Louisiana taxpayers."

You misspelled Saban. And no, Les better not get a statue.
Yes, 100% I can envision Kelly fielding a national championship team.

Reading through TD threads after a loss always makes me wonder how 95% of humans function day-to-day without a helmet on at all times.
I believe Coach Kelly started this last year specifically for #7, not #18. Will Campbell and Harold Perkins, the #7's, are from Louisiana.

He could have never scored a goal and Wayne Gretzky would still be the NHL's all time points leader. Without extreme rule changes, that record will absolutely never be broken.

That said, Wilt's other record is probably pretty secure.
Go frick yourself (probably your only option anyway)
It's called being realistic. And anyone who even thinks anything negative about Kelly or Mulkey (or Johnson) is an idiot, like you.
You've answered your own question by even thinking to ask it.
Josh Pate said the hire would be made quickly. He did not name any names. This is BS.

Your question seems suspect, at best.
The OP mentioned Mulkey and Johnson winning national championships in their second years. I'm not at all trying to "conflate the two;" in fact, I said that's a ridiculous expectation or even comparison (Mulkey inherited an awful team, but she's a top five women's basketball coach of all time - I don't think McMahon will be that - and Johnson inherited a good team).

If LSU wins half their conference games, that would be acceptable in McMahon's second year.
