You misspelled Saban. And no, Les better not get a statue.
re: After 2.5 seasons, can anyone really envision Kelly fielding a NC team?
Posted by TexHoss on 10/27/24 at 12:20 am
Yes, 100% I can envision Kelly fielding a national championship team.
Reading through TD threads after a loss always makes me wonder how 95% of humans function day-to-day without a helmet on at all times.

re: Josh Williams and Greg Penn both get #18. Harold Perkins gets #7 (Will Campbell keeps #7)

I believe Coach Kelly started this last year specifically for #7, not #18. Will Campbell and Harold Perkins, the #7's, are from Louisiana.

He could have never scored a goal and Wayne Gretzky would still be the NHL's all time points leader. Without extreme rule changes, that record will absolutely never be broken.
That said, Wilt's other record is probably pretty secure.

Go frick yourself (probably your only option anyway)
re: What is it with this McMahon patience

It's called being realistic. And anyone who even thinks anything negative about Kelly or Mulkey (or Johnson) is an idiot, like you.
re: Why Would Any Elite Coach Say Yes to Bama….

You've answered your own question by even thinking to ask it.
re: Josh Pate said Bama will hire Lanning or Kiffin and we should know in 4 hours
Posted by TexHoss on 1/10/24 at 8:17 pm
Josh Pate said the hire would be made quickly. He did not name any names. This is BS.

Your question seems suspect, at best.
re: What’s an acceptable record for the McMen on the board?
Posted by TexHoss on 10/24/23 at 9:52 am
The OP mentioned Mulkey and Johnson winning national championships in their second years. I'm not at all trying to "conflate the two;" in fact, I said that's a ridiculous expectation or even comparison (Mulkey inherited an awful team, but she's a top five women's basketball coach of all time - I don't think McMahon will be that - and Johnson inherited a good team).
If LSU wins half their conference games, that would be acceptable in McMahon's second year.

Yes, he must win the national championship. At a school which has never been particularly close to doing so. My gosh some of y'all are dumb. Support the coach and team, let's see what he can do.

Not the first time I've heard this about Lecavalier. I've met many hockey players and most are very down-to-earth. Nonetheless, sorry your boys had that experience.
Went out with the Spanish national soccer team while living in NYC. Javier Martinez (Athletic Club and Bayern) and Pepe Reina (Barcelona, Liverpool, MANY others) were extremely nice. Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal, Barca, Chelsea) was an a total prick.
Met Kim Dickens (Treme, Fear the Walking Dead, The Blind Side, others) at a restaurant and she was incredibly kind. My brother met Gary Player at a golf event - he asked my brother to punch him in the stomach to feel his abs, super nice/funny guy.
But to keep with the thread's original intent: Chef Jose Andres is the biggest prick, celebrity or otherwise, I've ever met. My wife works with people he works with; we went to a party at their house and Jose was there, they told us he's a jerk, and yet I was still in awe of what an a-hole he was. I know he does nice things (not sure he does all that much) and plays cute on TV, but it's all an act.

Every other country's athletes sing their anthem too. Like one in five of ours do.
I think we agree more than it seems, but I want to root for players who are about more than themselves.

So we have to like someone just because there's a little flag next to their name?
I largely root for Americans, but I'll make exceptions when players act like idiots. Serbs (and Russians and Belarusians - none of whom have little flags next to their names) do the same. Shelton is unbearable.

I've not followed the entire thread, so apologies if this has been discussed, but Ben Shelton may be the least likable (and most UF) American tennis player I can remember. Loved Djokovic's gesture.
And I've been lucky to go to many great sporting events/venues, the US Open is the worst. People chatting or screaming the entire time. All me, me, me, not at all about the event/players.

Won the West last year, much earlier than anyone expected. Do you just enjoy being miserable all the time?

Rustic Tap on West Sixth shows LSU games, but Shoal Creek isn't on West Sixth, so it wins.

Yes. Everything about them. My most hated team, school, club, organization, etc in any sport.
