Every team that wants to compete for the playoff annually will be spending that amount shortly, if they are not already.

OSU spent $13 mil on half a dozen guys in the portal.

Wrong. Ohio State also retained 10 players who could have gone to the draft. Whatever was spent (and I doubt it's close to $13 million) it was spent on retention AND the portal guys.

In the Opt-out Bowl?

Imagine being small-time enough to still be talking about that "big" win.

If they weren't that far behind, their best player would still be on the roster and not at Ohio State.

I said in early December that the Opt-out Bowl would be your Super Bowl and a spring practice for us. And I was right, as usual.

Michigan winning the national championship was the greatest stimulus possible for the Ohio State NIL collective.

You gotta spend money to make money.

Ohio State has almost unlimited funds.

I read GA offered just under $500k to Downs and OSU offered around $1.2mm

You mean businesspeople associated with Georgia offered Downs just under $500k in exchange for services rendered for the businesses by Downs/using Downs' name image and likeness, right? RIGHT?

If you're referring to Judkins, then absolutely wrong. That has been covered thoroughly. Hope the change in venue helps him to get his head straight. Locker-room cancer.

You’d think it would result in more national titles honestly

What a colossal waste of money. Any ‘business’ wasting that much money on an 18 yo kid that has zero experience in communication and likely talks like a hood rat will be out of business soon enough. Such a dumb use of business funds. The chance of a return on the investment is so minuscule that it’s just a matter of time until they have no more suckers to get roped into this racket.
We talk about these payouts like NFL free agency but the structure but this NIL frenzy is stupidity.

I’ve seen billboards and commercials for the Ambulance chasers with players in ATL but no Association mentioned or logo of UGA to be seen

Who the frick cares about an unrecognizable player without a jersey on or anything that would attract the attention of the fans that these lawyers are trying to get the attention from.

The schools just need to be paying. That is the only sensible NIL path. The money is there with the TV ESPN contracts.

If Saban said Bryce Young as Freshman was getting over a million. Imagine how much the gumps payroll has been the last two years.
Wasn’t Bryce doing that with actual NIL deals and not coaches telling boosters what players to pay to sign with them?
