Top 3 and others aren't really close. Haven't been to A&M.

Athens- Just is. Proximity, quantity, women, restaurants, etc.

Fayetteville - Wish they played more games there and it wasn't so damn hard to get to. Great town.

Nashville - Not a college town but great because whichever team plays can take over the place. Vandy should just play big games at LP Field.

Argue about the rest. No one else is close.

I can see that. I just disqualify Baton Rouge and Nashville because they're hardly "college towns". Baton Rouge gets some unnecessary hate though. there's plenty of great restaurants and things to do, just VERY spread out.

I've never been to Lexington. I'd ideally like to go to Rupp next season for what should be a great matchup between LSU and Kentucky

I completely agree with Gainesville last. I have respect for UF, but it sucks LSU has to go to Gainesville every other season

ESPN recently did a piece on Central High School in Tuscaloosa. Much of the video ESPN used for this piece looked like it was filmed in a 3rd world country

Have you ever been on the "wrong side of the tracks"? Yes, Tuscaloosa has its eyesores. We get it. But to hear some of you talk, the entire metro area is west Tuscaloosa. I swear some of yall either haven't been before, haven't been in more than a decade, or just repeat the same bullshite over and over.

Yeah, I have nothing against Tuscaloosa. Frankly it reminded me of a much cleaner Shreveport, minus the casinos and with a major university. Not good or bad

This is the one offseason ranking thread I don't hate - everyone can agree on a clear #1. Athens is untouchable.

And yes, I am biased.

Need some sort of point system. Just spitballing here, but...here is my ranking system. 10 categories. 1-10 ranking, 100 is perfect.

1. University to City (how important is the Univ to the city it resides)

2. Campus Proximity (is it central to the city)

3. Proximity to Downtown or Bars (Self explanatory)

4. Proximity to Sports venues (yep)

5. Drinking Laws (how restrictive or lax are they...10 is lax)

6. Campus Architecture (is it pretty to look at)

7. Gameday Experience (Grove for Ole Miss, etc.)

8. Downtown/Bar District (points off for distance between)

9. Eyesores near campus (10 means none, 1 means ghetto is near)

10. Misc (things not listed...traditions etc.)

Of the ones I've visited I'd rate Athens and Fayetteville neck and neck. Both have plenty to offer. If you look beyond just college parties, Fayetteville and NWA win hands down with Crystal Bridges (basically the Walton's private art gallery) and all the outdoor activity in NWA. Both rival Austin, TX for entertainment/music...but are smaller. Good food, friendly people, lotsa parties...just real nice towns.

Knoxville was pretty high on my list, but we didn't see much but the Vol Navy and around the stadium...and a heartbreaking 6OT loss.

Oxford sucks. Totally. It'd be a cool town but its full of the most obnoxious frat crowd anywhere. The girls aren't actually any hotter than anywhere else either..and the insecurity is rampant.

Baton Rouge...a pit...but real close to N'awlins which is where I stay if I must go to a game in that shithole of a stadium/dorm that they have there. FWIW...Tulane has a MUCH cooler campus.

Lexington...well..I drink bourbon, so there's that. Otherwise its a pretty dull place overall.

Columbia, SC. Blah. Gimme Charleston.

Auburn...I mean...its ok...better than Tuscaloosa which is all they care about probably...but when rolling trees is considered the in thing....yeah..I rest my case.

Tuscaloosa is a pit. The Univ is really nice. The town is a pit.

I won't pick on College Station or Starkville. that's like beating up a kid with Down's Syndrome. Just really wrong. They can't help it.

Columbia, Mo. Haven't spent much time there. Probably no reason to.

Never been to Gainsville.

I never understand what's with all the CS hate on these things. I've never been to Athens. But I have been to BR, Tusc, Fayetville, Oxford, Nashville(doesn't count as a town, sorry), Knoxville, Gainesville, Starkville, and CS beats them all hands down.

I think one of the other Aggie posters was correct, if it were surrounded by pine forest it would be a clear top 3-5.

True. But enough foreplay, already. I need at least a page of the deserved Athens-fellating so I can have a smoke and take a nap.

Lexington is high on my list also, especially if your game is during Keeneland's fall schedule...

Lexington is a nice college town, lotta great restaurants, the thoroughbred country is awesome, very scenic with a lotta stuff to do, a coupla distilleries close by, etc...

Truthfully, it's always a laidback gameday, usually not a lotta stressing about the actual game altho Mark Stoops is trying to change that...
