When did Alabama become a "middle of the road" program? While the last five years haven't been ideal, and we haven't have the CWS success of others, we are still one of the winningest baseball programs in SEC history.

I'm not sure that qualifies the program as anything but a middle of the road program. There are a lot of teams outside the SEC that have had a tad bit of success. This isn't football. Being in the middle in the SEC isn't exactly crushing it nationally.

So, I guess having the second most wins in SEC history, tied for the most regular season titles and conference tourney titles, as well as having two runner-up finishes at the CWS counts for "middle of the road"?

Without the titles, yes.

Well, with that logic you have to lump a lot of great programs into that category. I'm not arguing that Alabama's baseball program is a consistent title contender. I'm suggesting we're not "middle of the road". That would infer that we've never competed for championships of any kind.

I'm well aware you've competed for titles before. But I don't think of Alabama has a preeminent college baseball team and I really never have. You can argue over my perception being wrong, but Alabama has been passed up by a lot of teams in the conference over the last decade.

I agree. I don't think of Bama as being a bad baseball program, but I don't think of them as elite. And if you would ask around, you'd probably find most other CBB fans think the same. I'm not saying Bama can't make noise or couldn't ever win a CWS title, but until you do, don't expect others to feel any differently. BTW...I don't think of Fla as being elite either..until they can win a championship. And I somehow don't think of FSU as elite either...

Hog fans:
How do you think the extension of the suites down the left field line will affect the outfield free-for-all seating?
I've been quite a few times and it wasn't too bad. I like the openness feel. I would think that the extension is going to severely dampen that open feel.
What say you?

Isn't there a plan to put chairbacks down the first and third base line at the Box? Seems I remember reading that somewhere...
I have not heard this anywhere.

Anyone else seeing the irony here?

It's gonna move the hog pen to the right, closer to the pond.
We've already adjusted the fence in right field 10' in to accommodate for the right field changes.
The hog pen will actually have a club availability as well.
There will be a centralized entrance for the hog pen as well.
You can see each of the corner suite additions above as well.

Only three of those regular season titles have come in the past 40 years and you haven't been to Omaha in over a decade. Alabama has a good baseball program but it's not near the top of the SEC right now.

nice touch by the architectural rendering to include fat people so it's more realistic

Thread Conclusion:
UGA has the absolute shittiest baseball field in the SEC.
However, I had many a good time tailgating in the outfield and watching the game for free (moral victory).

They renovated Olsen Field and renamed the stadium Blue Bell Park because of a donation. The upper deck was existing and they removed some of the seating to put in suites. It wasn't a bad stadium before. It was just extremely bare bones.

oh i had no idea. i thought it was built from the ground up.

Olsen was a very good stadium before.....one of the better ones in all of college baseball...just no where near the elite. Lacked alot of the amenities that the newer ballparks had. Now with the renovations it is at least a Top 10 ball park and possible Top 5. It does look like a completely new ballpark...they did a great job on the renovation. Hopefully Kyle Field will look just as good when they get started on it in a couple of years.
