I think a more interesting discussion would be who is underachieving academically.

It's no surprise that Arkansas sucks academically. Similarly, it is not surprising that the largest institutions in the conference, especially two that are largely unchallenged in their state, are near the top.

So who should be higher but isn't? LSU, I think, is the obvious choice.

As an impartial observer, I'm going with A&M being a better school than Georgia. I had never heard of Georgia being a top notch public institution until I started reading this board. I think those outside of the SEC would agree.

Kentucky. They suck at football and thus should be ranked much higher academically. That's just sad.

Sure thing, guy

I live in Virginia, so I'll use this as an example. Here, if I took a random survey of educated people, most of them would say that Georgia is a better school than A&M in most degree fields, engineering being the exception.

I also didn't go to Georgia. I'm not just blindly defending my degree.

I have heard of A&M being a top notch institution until I met some A&M fans.

So based on your complete ignorance, you're going with A&M on this one.

Nice.

Maybe, but they don't even have a major city in their state. Same for the landmass schools. Somehow Alabama produces two schools that are good and improving quickly, but landmass and Louisiana can't put together one?

Tennessee is another candidate, but they're tucked away in a dying part of America on a terrible campus in a miserable town. Moreover, although not great, TN isn't a bad school.

I noticed - your methodology appears to be flawed

How did you come up with these ranking by the way?

Research Performance? Endowment? Acceptance Rate? ROI? Starting Salary Levels? Mid-Career Salary Levels? Alumni/Networking Resources? Reputation? Homerism?

Most ranking systems have Georgia ahead of Texas A&M. But I do think a ranking of departments is a better barometer.
