I'm reading this as Notre Dame football would still be independent
Maybe if they'd jump to the Big XII, they could lower the # of games their football team would have to play (I think its 5 ACC games per year in the ACC)
That's all this is...they're looking for a place to stash their non-football sports, because they're pissed the ACC didn't kiss their butts with the Miami-ND thing...

Acc should drop all of ND’s sports today. Kick them out.

The old timers can remember when ND never went to a bowl game until the money was calling them and the bowl system was changing to match the highest ranked teams. ND never wanted to go to BIG 10 and had opportunities to do so. They had some kind deal with the ACC to
play a number of games give the impression they were in a conference. To make an end to this story, they never wanted to share money with anyone so they caused this wound to themselves because the truth of the matter is it was self inflicted as it always has been.
The media has always tried to give the impression that they were bigger than life. I remember when LSU played them years ago and the talking heads were bragging how many quarters it had been since they had been scored on. LSU scored on them early and often. It was not even close.

Notre Dame finally got in the AAU, that was critical for making the B1G work. That move makes all the sense in the world.
You don’t seem to understand the past relationship when it comes to ND and the Big Ten. That conference is no longer interested in reaching out to them. It’s a no go. A non starter.

zero chance this happens - ND is almost as "snotty" about academics as the B1G schools
if they join a conference; it will be ACC or B1G
The ACC has just as many shitty schools as any of the other conferences.

B12 would get the benefit of televising ND when they travel.
The SEC and B1G would not.
the home team is always broadcasted by the tv contract they or their conference is with....ND at Ark this year was on ABC...or are you trying to say something else.
I have a ND fan and we had big discussion about the NBC contract....from what i read briefly last night ND makes between 22-25 million off NBC a year.
Then I looked at Big10 and sec...all big 10 teams made 62 mil and all sec teams made 52 mil.from tv contracts. If the sec and big 10 tell ND to gfy and refuse to schedule games with ND that NBC contract is going to become worthless when they have to show ND vs Utah St., Navy, MTSU etc

This is akin to FSU joining the ACC back in the early 90s...we all know why you're doing that.

such a dumbass take. both conferences would take them in a heart beat.

The SEC telling Notre Dame to frick off is a rare, massive W for Sankey.

Doubt it, but they’re honestly the best cultural fit for the B1G. Shoulda joined years ago.

Locked on big 12, aren’t those the guys that broke the Clem unc fsu Miami to big story? And the unc vir to sec story? And the Clem fsu to big 12 story? And the fsu Clem vir unc to sec forcing Miami vt Louisville and nc state to big 12 story? These guys got the scoop on everything

The Big 12 is perfect for ND.
Full (seemingly if not actually) of patsies to roll over every year.
Easiest route to the CFP every year.
It is like its custom ordered for ND.

ND can rot in Independent purgatory... They are not a powerhouse that they used to be. Their brand has taken a major hit over the years.

quote:Exactly. If I'm ND, and knowing the criteria to get in CFP every year is my goal, ACC and Big 12 makes the most sense. Better hope SOS doesn't end up being more of a factor in the future.
They wouldn’t touch the SEC with a 10 foot pole because they’d be exposed; you know they’ll go with one of the 2 weak power 4 conferences.

Location? South Bend is damn near in Michigan

Something no one is recognizing with the CFP committee. Based on their explanation for excluding ND, ND did not have a path to the CFP despite being in the CFP top 10 every week.
They say Miami did not jump ND until BYU lost to TT in the B12 CG. Had BYU won that game, ND and Miami would have been out if they kept Alabama in.
This just proves that the CFP really did lead ND and fans along the whole time with no real intention of selecting them for the CFP.

there is nothing to doubt. SEC would take them in a heart beat. they add value to the contract for football and other sports and help with academics. also in a state that touches current footprint
big10 would take them all day too.
being naive if you dont think every single conference would take them.

besides location, what part of Notre Dame is even close to a cultural fit in the SEC?
How is anything on the shore (or close to, at least) Lake Michigan a fit for location?
