I wouldn't call it bias, it's just the SEC has won 13 of last 18 Nati's. If you include UT, it's 15 of last 21. SEC has 8 of top 11 recruiting classes on ESPN, 8 of top 14 recruiting classes on 247. SEC went 13-6 in OOC vs other P4, pre-bowl games this year. No other conference came close to .500. SEC has by far most NFL players vs other conferences. On 247 Talent composite, 12 SEC teams rank in Top 24. 7 of top 12 teams are from the SEC.

If you're a cable network, why wouldn't you air more games with them for more money? Not one analyst wanted Bama in over SMU. It was a financial decision, but I would say most root for the non-SEC team when they play the SEC.
