Everyone else should gang up and force Notes Dame into a conference. They aren't special.

If this is true it highlights again how traditional powers, aka blue bloods, get special privileges.
It is true and your point is dead on...
Every year the 'blue bloods' are given advantageous rankings to start. It's much easier to stay up top when you start there instead of try to climb to the top from the bottom. "Blue Bloods" always imply they should be at the top to start because they are "blue bloods". It's been total bs for years and BCS type data is needed. There continues to be too much bias based upon zero data.

You are correct and it all starts with the b.s. preseason rankings.
See Clemson this year and Ga Tech living off of Clemson's b.s. preseason ranking.

It’s a perfect storm.
BS preseason ranking from which “blue bloods” have to lose their way out and others have to win their way in.
Those rankings determine who get the best TV times.
Those rankings are the basis of absolutely bogus strength of schedule rankings.
It’s all circular.
No one knows the real SOS or quality of a team until very late in the year but by then the whole season has been so f-d up by bias that it’s almost impossible to overcome.
Think back over this year. Everyone shat on Mizzou’s perceived poor SOS but it ended up being #20.

This is a backdoor way of telling conferences to fix their tie breaker system, because the CFP committee is no longer going to protect the loser of championship game, or a 3rd,4th,5th conference team.
What will be the SEC cry if this was in affect this year. Would Alabama knock OU out because the lost the SECCG? Miami would not be able to jump over the teams in the ACCCG.

Since ND wants to be independent for the money benefit rather than being in a conference and part of the system, ND should pay to be included in the playoff
Maybe something like $100 million for a year they qualify for the playoff.

Why is anyone but ND ok with this?

Half their ancient championships should have an asterisk.
I'm so glad the beauty contest for titles is over.
They avoided bowl games to make sure the media could declare them champions for decades.

A 'Memorandum of Understanding' isn't worth the toilet paper in Toomer's Corner. It's the legal equivalent of patting someone on the head and ushering them out the door without a commitment to do squat.

Only teams who are in a conference should be allowed it. ND is in a conference for all their sports except football.

They only win championships when given a head start.
You’re spot on. The “blue bloods” would be a fun rabbit hole to go down. Why are the same teams ALWAYS at the top??

I believe this was signed back in March well before all of this weekends activities

The committee will just make them 13th, it's easy to explain that away.....
This is what needs to happen. They should never rise above #13, IDGAF how well they play.

Not really a huge deal IMO…. All teams are effectively assured a spot in the playoff if they finish in the Top10-ish
Then guarantee them a spot if they're in the top 10.
12 is a joke. You're basically saying any school that ranks in the top 12 is subject to be booted from an at large spot for a conference champion unless that school is Notre Dame in which case they have special privilege so some other higher ranked at large team gets shafted instead.
If this were in place this year Miami would be shafted for a team they beat.
Alabama was shite out of luck last year despite being #11.
Notre Dame and BYU were this year despite being 11 and 12.
Going forward any team at 11 and 12 can probably expect to be shite out of luck unless they are Notre Dame and Notre Dame only.
The power conferences should tell ND to join a conference or frick off.

They finished 11 this year. They would have been in, meaning one of the SEC teams would have been left out.

The ACC should refuse to let any of their teams play them. ND is members of the ACC for all sports except football. Make them join.
Posted on 12/8/25 at 2:39 pm to QBUMizzou
So the committee just ranks them 13, its not like they need a reason to do what they want to do.

So, 1 day after the CFP field is announced, Notre Dame already has moved the organization enough to get an agreement like this hammered out and agreed to in some sort of binding way?
This was already in place before yesterday.
